Have you ever had a day that you didn't know what you wanted to eat? Well, today was one of those days.
The husband and I searched around for restaurants we don't normally go to. We were excited to see we had a (Andy's) Highway 55 in Fayetteville!
We drove down to Gillespie and found it across from the airport. We've been in and around that area but had no idea there was a Highway 55 there. We had to try it! We love the location in Reaford and the one in Rockingham, so it was time for us to try Fayetteville.
They welcomed us no sooner we walked in. I like that! It's how I remember Highway 55.
The building on the outside looks fairly new, so it looked like a good idea to try it out. Now, I'm not too picky, but come on. The inside was dirty. The floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while, and the bar where we sat needed to be wiped down. I didn't even want to touch the bar. Went to the bathroom, and at least that was fairly clean.
Went back to order and wait. The young woman (Savanna) was very nice and patient with us since it's been a while since eating at a Highway 55. We sat and waited. The cooks looked very knowledgeable and stayed busy. I'm glad to see they all had gloves on, and it looked pretty clean back there. As we waited, we carried on a good conversation until one of the other girls got the to go orders ready. Instead of bringing them to us and the guy next to us that was waiting, she proceeded to walk away, leaving our food on the counter, bagged up, and ready to go. I have a big mouth and am not afraid to ask questions, so I asked Savanna if that was our order. She walked over and said, Yes. It sure is! Let me get your drinks. She was able to take care of us and the other guy waiting while that other girl walked off. I thought that was rude, but they are kids working there. I'm just glad that Savanna had no problem helping us all out, and she was very professional about it. She apologized and asked if everything was right. It's like she cared.
All in all, the food was about 7.5 out of 10 They burnt my tots, and my husband's philly cheesesteak. The service was a 4 out of 5, only because of Savanna, and the atmosphere was 4. I like oldies music and the old pictures they have up on the walls. It reminds me of Andy's back in the day!
It may be a while till we go back. That's only because it's a good drive for us, but I...
Read moreThis was my second time there because I wanted to give them another chance since my last visit. My first time was right after they opened and although the service was terrible, I knew they were training so I gave them some slack. The food (shrimp po-boy) was decent, but a little soggy. Now, I go back and sit right in the front at the counter. Several waitresses walk right past me for about 8 minutes without even looking at me. Finally, one of them approaches me and asked if I have been helped. I responded with a "no" and she handed me a menu, immediately asking me what I wanted as the menu still sat in front of me unopened. I asked if I could have a moment to look at the menu and she walked away. When she brought the check back with my credit card, she placed it on the table in front of me and walked away, no providing a pen for me to sign it. I sat for another 8-10 minutes waiting for her to come back but she never did. A different waitress brought my food and I had to ask for a pen to sign the receipt. No tip necessary if you can't do the basic functions of your job. The food is nothing I couldn't thaw out and cook at home. Bland. No tarter sauce or anything with my shrimp platter. The cooks look like they are working hard, but the food is mediocre and the service is absolutely terrible. Will not be going back when there are better...
Read moreWe came here one day at about 4pm. We drive up to the window and there is a sign saying they are only taking orders on the phone or inside. So...we call...and wait and wait. No one answers. We call again. A girl comes to the window and says we are only taking orders over the phone. We can literally hear the phone ringing in the background. We say ok we are calling so just answer the phone. The girl is totally speechless. She closes the window and another girl comes to the window. The phone is still ringing. She says to my husband...sir, I am the only waitress here right now and we are very busy so we are only taking orders on the phone. I say ok then go answer the phone. We didn't know until we pulled up to the Window. We had no problem calling our order in. The girl is so confused and says ok sure I will go ahead and take your order. Nope! Nevermind. These girls need help! Please help them with training or...
