Restaurant Review: A Promising Dining Experience with Room for Improvement
My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at a local restaurant yesterday, Saturday, September 28, 2024, and overall, it was a delightful experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the warm smiles of the cash register staff, who were friendly and welcoming, setting a positive tone for our visit. The restaurant itself was impressively clean, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dining.
We decided to dine in and were pleasantly surprised by the generous refill policy on the soda fountain and sweet tea, which is always a nice touch. Eager to sample a variety of offerings, my wife ordered the seafood and shrimp gumbo along with a half-pound of gizzards, while I opted for the fried whiting fish, buffalo wings, French fries, and a side of fried oysters. The total for our feast was about $50, which felt reasonable given the portion sizes.
One standout aspect of our meal was how quickly our food arrived—everything came out piping hot, which is a rarity in many establishments. It was impressive to see all our dishes arrive simultaneously and at such a high temperature. My wife particularly enjoyed the fried oysters, finishing them all herself, while I sampled one and found it not to my taste.
The buffalo wings were quite good, but I found my fried whiting fish to be a bit overcooked and lacking in seasoning. Similarly, the gizzards, while perfectly cooked, also suffered from a lack of flavor. If the restaurant could enhance their seasoning techniques, it would elevate their offerings significantly. The gumbo, although hot and hearty, also felt like it was missing that special depth of flavor.
In summary, this restaurant has all the elements to become a standout dining destination in Fayetteville. The friendly staff, cleanliness, generous portions, and hot food make it a great choice for a meal. However, with some improvements in their seasoning, they could easily transform into one of the best dining experiences in the area. We look forward to returning and hoping to see some flavorful enhancements on...
Read more5/30/22: I came here mainly for the blue crabs because I haven’t had any since we moved to NC from VA 3 years ago. We also got got calamari, oysters, fish, and wings. Ok the crabs were so small I was shocked, and I should not have gotten them because of the reviews I read but I wanted to try them so bad. About 4 of them things may amount to the size of one…VERY disappointing is an understatement. Beware they are NOT your typical blue crab. Calamari says 10 on the menu and you get just that lol and they are small. The honey garlic wings were good and my husband said the oysters were ok. I was hoping to return but it’s a no just because of...
Read moreMy husband and I enjoy a meal (or two with leftovers) at least once a week. His favorite meal is 3 chicken tenders (very large; roughly equal to a half breast each), 6 Fried Jumbo Shrimp, and a generous pile of French Fries served with a soda. My favorite is Shrimp and Chicken Gumbo; seasoned with just a tiny bit of spice. (I don't enjoy spicy food, but their Gumbo is delicious! If I choose to get a plate, I get 2 fish fillets (catfish or whiting), 6 Fried Jumbo Shrimp, and a generous pile of French Fries served with a soda. As I said, we frequently eat at Flying Legs at least once a week. It can become one of your favorite...
