Read moreGreat pizza, real beach town experience! I've been coming to Leonardo's for years and love this place. Yes, the owner runs a tight ship and doesn't mess around - but that's exactly why the pizza is consistently good! She knows what works and sticks to it.
People complaining about "rudeness" are missing the point. This isn't some corporate chain with fake smiles - it's a family-run spot on a barrier island where getting supplies is tough and the summer crowds are intense. The owner is straightforward about what's available and what isn't. I respect that honesty. The pizza is excellent NY-style thin crust, and when they say they're out of something, it's because they'd rather tell you upfront than serve you something subpar. That's good business in my book.
If you want authentic pizza from people who care about quality over hand-holding, this is your spot. The locals get it, and once you do too, you'll appreciate what they're doing here. Perfect beach town vibe - no nonsense, just good food...
Read moreMy family and I took the drive down to Outer Banks, NC. Almost a 12 hour trip. When we arrived to our shore house: we were exhausted, hungry, and ready for a quick bite to eat. We went to Leonardo's, only to have the door shut in our faces by one of the employees who insisted the shop was closed. (Even though that didn't correlate with the closing time posted online and outside their establishment!) I don't know how good their pizza is, but the customer service is awful. There were no apologies or anything. Just a worker who unfortunately didn't want to wait on us. Who willingly closes at 7:30pm on a Saturday night while vacationers are willing to pay for their overpriced food? I guess I will never know. Go to Lisa's. It's down the street and their service is wonderful. All the waitresses are extremely friendly and their...
