The Barrel — Restaurant in North Carolina

We have been fans and frequent customers at The Barrel since it opened several years ago. It has a fantastic "homey" feeling. It feels like the Brawley School Road version of Cheers!... Comfortable with the regulars and very welcoming for new people. It’s just a great place.

The personalities behind the bar at The Barrel are what make it – Marijo and Carol are the best!

Recently, the original owner, Trudy, sold the business to new owners, Bob and Fran. While we love and will miss all the great times with Trudy, what Bob and Fran have been doing really made me want to provide an updated review.

Like I said, it has always been a great place to visit and enjoy – great company, great wine… and some great food like charcuterie and the weekly Tuesday soup nights.

Bob and Fran are doing a fantastic job of keeping everything that has been great about The Barrel and then really spending the time to observe and talk with the customers about some changes they are considering – like possibly more events, expanding food offerings, maybe a wine club. They are even floating different paint colors with people before they repaint all the walls. And they have done a great job upping their social media game.

Bob and Fran were customers at The Barrel for years before buying it from Trudy. They wanted to buy it because they understood it and really liked it. This is clearly a passion project for them and they have some fantastic ideas and great energy.

If you’ve never been to The Barrel, what are you waiting for?! If you dropped by before and haven’t been in for a while, you really needs to come in again.

We’ve been coming here occasionally for a few years, but lately it’s become one of our favorite spots — we’re now in a couple of times a week!

This has always been the perfect place to stop in for a glass or two (or maybe even a bottle or two 😄) to wind down any evening. A few months ago, The Barrel changed ownership, and while it was already a great place, it’s truly been transformed into something special. The simple, thoughtful updates have added even more warmth to an already comfortable and cozy atmosphere — the perfect spot to relax, whether you’re alone or with friends.

It’s the kind of place where regulars know each other, gather to share laughs, and enjoy good wine and good company. Whether you’re a familiar face or visiting for the first time, you’re always greeted with a warm welcome and genuine smiles — you’ll never feel like a stranger here.

The new owners, Bob and Fran, have brought a wonderful new energy and charm to The Barrel. They make everyone feel like part of the family, always ready to chat, laugh, and make sure you’re having a great time.

And a huge shoutout to the amazing trio behind the bar — Carol, Marijo, and Kerrie. They’re some of the best in the business: friendly, attentive, and always making you feel right at home.

I love this place. I moved to Mooresville 4 years ago and stumbled into The Barrel by accident after leaving the hardware store. From the minute I walked in the staff made me feel right at home. I’ve been a regular ever since and the friends I made that night are still my friends today.
