UPDATE: We have been back multiple times and we have been very happy! Service has been wonderful. Drinks awesome. Especially the maple old fashioned. And the chef has cut way back in the salt. So much more palatable. The steaks have been so delicious! Wings amazing! We will continue to come as we really have been enjoying this restaurant again.
We are regulars at Grove Street. We came in today for Sunday brunch. Brought some friends who had never been there. We looked forward to the special brunch menu which included crab cake benedict. Our first waitress was horrible, as she has been in the past. She's incredibly slow and forgetful. After a very long wait, including taking 20 minutes to get coffee, we put in our order with a second waitress only for her to come back to say they were had no crab. How does that even happen when it is the special?? They also were out of pancakes?? Our poor friend was craving them all morning. Instead, she was given a very odd spoon cake. She was not impressed. Our 2nd waitress was wonderful as alway. Think her name is Jess. She was even embarrassed that they ran out of the items we wanted. We arrived before 1:00. Brunch is until 2. Would have been nice if they were better prepared for the special menu and brunch on a special day. You should never run out of food. Has happened to me before when I ordered salmon. Very disappointing. My son had biscuits and gravy and they must have been low on gravy as it was sooo dry. Wish I had a pic. I had chicken and waffles. It was good, once you got through all of the burnt peices. My other complaint is it was way over salted. I have noticed the chef tends to be heavy handed on the salt for many of the meals. We love Grove Street and are regulars, but Sundays are hit or miss. Last few Sundays we come in it takes forever to get served. And please tell the chef to cut back in the salt. I could barely eat my fish meal a couple of weeks ago. Burgers and wings are always amazing! We looked so forward to bringing our friends, so we were disappointed it was not the best experience for them. We will still come in, but hoping...
Read moreI visited the restaurant on January 24, 2024. I had a Cajun chicken salad. I went with two friends. One friend also had the Cajun chicken salad. The other friend had something else. That evening around midnight I started to vomit. I threw up at 12 AM, 2 AM and 4 AM. I called my friends the next day to see if they were ill. The only one that was ill was the one that ate the same salad I did. I called the restaurant to let them know. They told me the manager was not there and that she would call me back at 5 PM. Around 8 PM that night I called the restaurant back. I’d never received a phone call from them. The manager, Daniella, asked me to please be patient and not put up a review or report them to the department of health until she spoke to the owner. She told me the owner was away until Sunday. She asked me if I had gone to the doctor to prove that it was food poisoning. I told her that I was exhausted from vomiting and being up all night, and that I was not able to drive that day. She called me back a few minutes later and asked what I was looking for. I told her I wasn’t looking for anything. I just wanted to let them know that my friend and I both got ill from eating the same meal at their restaurant. Daniella kept stating that they have passed all of their inspections. They did not seem to be interested at all in the fact that the two people who ate the same meal were both sick. Neither one of us had been around anyone with the Norovirus. . My symptoms lasted the same timeframe as food poisoning. I respected her wishes and waited until Sunday. However, I never received a phone call from the restaurant. I texted Daniella to let her know that their apathy was disappointing. I like to support local establishments. However, this one has no respect for their patrons! The food is mediocre at best, and their professionalism is the worst! I would never advise anyone...
Read moreAfter a few late afternoon attempts, my friend and I decided to have lunch at the Grove Street Pub & Grill. The previous attempts were thwarted by an overflowing parking lot and patrons waiting to get in. We sat at the bar and were greeted by the bartender, Amy. There was a nice selection of draft beers and the lunch menu was somewhat limited in comparison to other similar restaurants; but, nonetheless had a variety of choices. I ordered a fried shrimp po boy and my friend ordered a mushroom Swiss burger. While waiting for our food, we had a nice conversation with Amy and we learned about the transition from the previous owners to the present. In addition, she mentioned that the food is made from scratch and the burgers are not frozen. The food arrived and we dug in. The po boy was tasty and filling and my friend had difficulty finishing her burger for the same reason. Both of us LOVED the fries. They were very different from the norm and a definite improvement. I have to state that our decision to stop at the Grove Street was a great choice; but, Amy the bartender made our lunch even nicer by taking the time to converse with us. If you have intentions of going, my suggestion is get there early! From our experience, the crowds aren't going to disapate...
