Sazon Dominicano Restaurante — Restaurant in Catasauqua

This place deserves more than 5 stars

I come from a British and Italian background family and past 15 years have tried so many other authentic cuisines my favorite being Japanese and Burmese.

My friend recommended trying Mofongo and my first time doing so was unfortunately not at sazon. The other restaurants mofongo was so dry it seemed they preformed it and tried to reheat when a customer orders.

This annoyed me and I told myself try another place after reading online there is a lot of bad mofongo.

I was visiting my sister and found sazon dominicano on google map for authebtic Spanish food.

When I walked in the service was very good and I explained I wanted to try mofongo again since my first experience at a different restaurant was not so good. The gentleman was like take a seat I'll show you what good mofongo is.

This mofongo was so fresh and far from dried out. I had it with the stew chicken and added piece of the baked chicken since the gentleman strongly recommended it.

When I say I can't even make baked chicken that is that tender juicy and fall of the bone I mean it. The stew chicken as well and another huge thing to me. The seasoning was just perfect on everything. So flavorful without being too much.

I am not sure how I have not heard of this place before, but the food is amazing. This restaurant better be here to stay! I can not stress enough how delicious the food is, they give nice size portions, the food is fresh, nothing tasted stale, old or reheated, not even the rice. I ordered a baked chicken, rice and beans lunch special, and a peppered steak with cilantro rice lunch special. I got home, I was able to cut into the steak with my plastic spoon. it was juicy, and tender, and that cilantro rice is just too good to be true. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, nice crisp skin and the meat right down to the bone was cooked and seasoned. I literally have no complaints. except for the fact I haven't seen this spot before. I'm almost certain this is the only Spanish food restaurant in the whitehall area, and it honestly blows the spots in allentown out the water. Aside from the food, the atmosphere In the restaurant was up to par. A lot of seating inside without feeling like it's packed and overwhelming, it's very "homey". Not to mention how clean it was. alot of these other resturants could learn a thing or two, not even the prep board was dirty with old food spills and such. This is my new go-to. All I can say is Yummmmmmy!!! This small restaurant is big on taste and customer service. They were extremely busy when me and my daughter came in but everyone was smiling and very friendly. The food is delicious, I can’t wait to try more items from the menu. Note: for some items you have to call to make sure they made it for that day, but it’s definitely worth the effort. You won’t be disappointed. The dressing for the salad that also tastes delicious on everything else too is a secret family recipe, they need to bottle it and sell it 😋.
