新華 New China — Restaurant in Catasauqua

I've been eating here for about 15 years now, it is a staple of fast Catasauqua food. HOWEVER. Some items were removed from the menu (one of my favorites too, of course) and the service has gone downhill slightly. The ordering process is exactly how you would expect, however it is a little frustrating that upon delivery you get a call stating "your food's here" and then hanging up on you. That's my only service complaint. The food is delicious but again, slightly downhill. I've had to change my order choices several times because of this. Like some other reviewers mentioned, the issue mostly comes with the breaded chicken meals due to the fact that they are more breading than chicken and are sometimes not the greatest cuts. The sweet and sour chicken is the best choice in terms of a chicken dish, in my opinion. The pricing is the last thing to address here I suppose. As everything has went up due to inflation, I can't even complain about their prices. YES they did go up, however that is beyond their control. They also haven't gone up astronomically and I think the pricing is still reasonable.

While the food is decent here, they are cheap! Good luck getting your moneys worth on any dish containing seafood. They will give you mainly vegetables and a few pieces of seafood, 2 chunks of lobster meat in a lobster dish or 3 shrimp in a shrimp dish. The rest will be broccoli and water chestnuts. I once spent 60+ dollars on carry out and forgot to ask for a hot oil before I paid so I thought, ok no big deal right, I'll get it when the foods ready. Wrong! When I had asked for 1 hot oil, I was told that it would cost me 30 cents. After pointing out to the counter person that I had just spent $60, she still didn't want to give it to me. I really wanted it, but, I had no cash(I paid for the order with a debit card). When I tried paying for the hot oil with the debit card I was told that there's a 5 dollar minimum on credit and debit card orders or I would have to pay a 50 cent convinence charge. I naturally balked at that and stormed out with my food, in hindsight I should have denied the food and demanded a refund. But my kids were hungry and it was late at night. But i'll never go back...

II am not a happy camper today I ordered some food for me and my son and basically it was terrible!!! He ordered chicken and broccoli and basically got three pieces of chicken and the rest of the container was broccoli and carrots. I ordered combination rice and only three pieces of shrimp one piece of chicken and micro bits of some other meat which I'm assuming is pork was all that was with the rice. If you are going to spend money, which they are a little expensive as it is. At least get what you are paying for. I guess I will not be coming here anymore!!! I'll travel a little further next time to my old neighborhood to Great Wall on union blvd. At least there you know the quality of the food your getting for your dining out experience.
