Chatty Magpie Cafe — Restaurant in North Charleston

100% one of the North Area's hidden gems! Tucked into the Pepperhill Square shopping center (Ashley Phosphate and Cross County), the Chatty Magpie Cafe offers a breakfast and lunch menu anchored by fresh-baked from-scratch breads and pastries. Prices are very reasonable - we paid around $17 per person before tax and tip for sandwiches, drinks, and pastries and it was easily worth every penny and more.

I had the hot H.A.M. on rye (it was delicious!), and one of my boys told me that the everything bagel he got was the best one he's ever had. Bonus for parents with picky kids - they are very accommodating of custom orders. The pound cake, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate croissant received rave reviews from the boys.

Service is excellent - this is a small business and Elena and her team are hardworking, friendly, and attentive. Food is prepared right in front of you and everything that's not pre-packaged (so everything other than the chips and bottled drinks) are made from fresh ingredients.

Really cool local cafe/bakery! I spoke with Camilla inside who was very kind, and she made all the food fresh herself. There are plenty of options of bagels and pastries to choose from, and multiple types of breakfast or lunch sandwiches. There is coffee, but currently there is only hot coffee options, as there is no ice machine yet. I asked Camilla about this and she said they have not been able to afford an ice machine yet, but are hoping to have the ability to make iced coffee by next year. I recommend “The Billy” for a sandwich, and also the apple turnover is very good. The Raspberry Crumb tart thing (forgot the name) was also amazing, and I ordered that on Camilla’s recommendation. Let’s support this small business and put it on the map! I gave it a solid 4 stars, only because of not having iced coffee currently, and there not really being any seating inside or outside. I had the pleasure of dining here this morning, and it was an amazing experience! Right when I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and friendly owner. Her passion for cooking and serving great food truly shines through.

The breakfast sandwiches were phenomenal! Made with fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor, I couldn’t get enough. You can really taste the quality in every bite. She also made a mean salted caramel mocha.

What made my visit even more special was the conversation we had. She shared her inspiring story about how she ended up at this location and the love she has for her craft. It felt less like a meal and more like catching up with an old friend.
