The second stop on my birthday celebration tour of food was this lovely little place. I had heard so many great things and every one is true! They carry a small but obviously carefully curated range of Italian groceries, including truffle oil, dried pasta, olives, wines and beers.
They have chilled wine and beer you can enjoy with your meal on site, so I got a nice bottle of Prosecco to share with hubby. We didn't finish it so the charming owner capped it so I could finish it at home.
The deli shines, with quality meats and fresh-baked treats. While the nice man behind the counter made my cheese and meat tray for 2 to go, I ordered a club sandwich and hubby got the chick parm. Both were loaded with meat and so flavorful and satisfying. The bread was so fresh and soft. I saved half my sandwich because it was HUGE!
I had to try a dessert because it was my birthday and I struggled deciding between the Limoncello cake imported from Italy and the lemon-blueberry cake made fresh in-house, but eventually went with the local option. It was a winner! Moist, luxurious, not too sweet, and tangy with fresh blueberries, it paired amazingly well with the Prosecco. It was heavenly!
The owner was friendly and engaging, and made us feel right at home. He brought my charcuterie to go with some special extras (perfectly crisp thin slices of Italian bread, a mysterious red wine and cranberry chutney that had something else going on I couldn't identify but it is cravable, nice deli mustard, and macerated spicy peppers in oil that were like WOW hot). I spotted some chicken salad in the case I had to have, as well as some bucatini that is my delicious dinner tonight with hubby's homemade sauce and some white truffle oil I couldn't resist.
This is a real gem of a place, and we will definitely be back again! Thanks for making my...
Read moreWhat a surprising gem! Dropped the daughter off at orchestra practice and the deli I was planning to go to unexpectedly closed early so I stopped in here and everything about it made me smile. It reminded me of when my mom would take us to our local Italian market years ago. Great hard to find specialty items - Barretto onions in balsamic vinegar, caper berries in wine, truffle polenta, a nice olive oil selection and so much more! Italian wines to enjoy there or at home, a small but high quality fresh produce selection, and on and on. The owner was incredibly nice and to top it all off, the caprese sandwich was above & beyond my expectations.
The best compliment I can give - I told my dad he needs to bring my mom for a date night here. She’s full Italian and we have many good cooks in the family. I know...
