Geechie Garlic Crabs & Seafood — Restaurant in North Charleston

Somehow I came across Geechie Garlic Crabs (GGC) & am delighted to have given it a try. The customer service was outstanding as we felt welcomed and appreciated! For a seafood restaurant, it didn't smell like one and was very neat and clean. We enjoyed the vibe from the music being played moreso than the multiple TVs. We ordered a few items since it was our 1st time and many of them sounded yummy. We ordered the crab legs with shrimp in garlic (which comes with an egg, an ear of corn, and quartered potatoes), fried blue crab, and garlic blue crab. Everything was so good and don't forget to try the crab rice which was extremely flavorful with real crab meat! My only drawbacks were that GGC is limited to only 3 drinks (bottled water, two regular flavored sodas, and a Palmetto Juice that the server said reminded her of Jolly Ranch). Having the options of tea (sweet or unsweetened), diet, or zero sugar sodas would have been nice. The platters are delicious but messy/juicy to say the least. Having a plastic bib and wet napkins would have helped to keep us more tidy. The tables are small and pans are provided to discard shells/trash. A bucket would be a better use for the limited space. I’ll start with the menu online drew me into dining in the restaurant. Prior to writing this experience, I did ask for owner Roy Walker to come out and speak with me but he informed a staff member he didn’t have time. Here are the concerns:

1. food was old
2. the thick fish batter took away from the meat. This had to be discarded.
3. The server was not welcoming, the order was wrong when the food did come-45 min later.
4. Charlene was kind and the music selections were nostalgic.
5. Training in exceptional customer service is vital since these people are the first faces to interact with potential customers. In particular when there are special requests made to ensure certain ingredients are not added to foods and it happens anyway. This could be a lawsuit waiting to happen if the staff and cooks are unaware. Food diets and allergy sensitivities are a reality these days and therefore servers/staff Have to be mindful to follow. Constructively, I hope the suggestions previous customers and I made will be revisited with keen reflection. This was my first time here I will never go back . I asked how long was the wait for to go order and the cashier said 20- 25 mins and I waited there finally got my food in 45 mins . I asked 30 mins waiting trying to figure out how long more of wait and I told the manager I needed my money back because I didnt have time to wait and she pointed to a sign that said no refunds . The customer service was really poor and I didn't have all day to wait on food . So when I got work and ate my garlic shrimp and potatoes and sausage it didn't taste good at all the potatoes was hard and the sauce seemed like water and didn't taste like a garlic sauce on it . It was the worst $21 I spent on food ever! If u want a long wait and its not good food than go for it. They don't value their customers time or have great customer service and they just want your money end don't care about the service or the food they provide and the woman rest room was broken with a sign on the toilet out of order couldn't use the restroom while I wait forever on this terrible food .
