I have eaten at Kiki's Chicken and Waffles in Columbia for years. I was excited t hat we would have one in Charleston (SC). I know there has been all kinds of mixed reviews and everyone is entitled to their opinions from their experiences, but my families first experience on Saturday was absolutely amazing! Asia was amazing as the employee that made sure we had everything that we needed. She was not a waitress or server, but above and beyond and so many ways. She should train ALL employees! The wait time was fair, but the restaurant was busy, plus we had time and came in after a community service event so we were fine. The food was great! We had chicken, waffles, pork chop, French toast, shrimp and grits, fried okra, macaroni and cheese, fries...and everything was delicious. I took the time to speak to the manager (you shouldn't only seek a manager when something goes wrong) to let him know how great our service was as well as the food. Many complain that there are no soul food restaurants in Charleston, no place to go, etc....yet when entrepreneurs come here all some do is complain and instead of working to make it better make folks not want to be in business here. We are the community, yes, I demand great service also...but we have to be in this together. Thank you for such a wonderful...

I had high hopes for this spot, but unfortunately, it was a letdown from start to finish.

Upon arrival, we were seated right away, which was a good start. However, when we went to use the restroom, we found it was out of service—first red flag.

It took 17 minutes for a server to acknowledge us, and when we finally placed our order, we were shocked to hear that a simple side of three eggs would cost $11.00—ridiculous.

The food came out quickly, but that wasn’t necessarily a good thing. The grits were bland, the fish was neither crispy nor well-seasoned, and the sweet tea was overpoweringly sweet. The only highlight of the meal was the sweet potato fries.

While waiting, I saw an employee cutting lemons with one glove on, then digging through her purse with the same glove. To make it worse, those lemons were then left sitting on a table. Major hygiene concern!

We also requested real silverware and were told they ran out, so we were given plastic utensils—without any napkins.

To top it all off, they charge a 3.99% fee just for paying with a card.

Overall, this place is unorganized, unsanitary, and in serious need of better training and management. I...

We visited South Carolina from Phoenix, Arizona and the first place I wanted to go while on my birthday trip was to Kiki‘s Chicken and Waffles. I am so glad that we were able to make it here fresh off the airplane. This was our first stop and I tell you we have no complaints. We experienced a lunch special with two chicken wings, mac & cheese, collard greens, and cornbread awesome. We had a lunch special with three chicken wings and a half of A Belgian waffle. The chicken was fresh. The waffle was fresh. Flavor was good. I had fried okra and a piece of fried whiting fish. The fried fish taste, wild caught, and it was really good. Lastly, I mentioned that my birthday was coming and I was given a treat. So I’ve never experienced a red velvet waffle and I had one topped with a powdered sugar, strawberries and a cream cheese glaze. Phenomenal🙌🏾. I am so glad I was able to stop by this restaurant as my first stop in Charleston, South Carolina. The staff were very hospitable and took care of us really well. Thank you so much for making our...

Ok, I was not going to say anything because my chicken was not completely cooked and I did not want to give a low rating. However, I know that Charleston has some of the BEST food in SC. So…whoEVER cooked the chicken today needs to be re-trained and given a pop for messing up some good chicken. Now the waitress was so nice and sweet. She, the sweet potato waffle, seafood platter less mash potato…and LORD the ARNOLD PALMER is the reason for the high rating. LAWD HEM MERCY!! I drunk 2 glasses and wanted a to go cup (did not because I was the driver and needed to get back home). Would I want to come back to this one?…. Hmmm Yea…they are new in this area. I think in a couple of months after the boss from Columbia who I have seen and know by appearance means business gets on the cook about NOT cooking the chicken right they will be fine. Hope to see you again next year if I don't need a mental break before the holiday. Thanks again to the waitress for the splendid service 😊

Disappointed with my first Kiki’s experience. Waffles came out cold and hard, and the butter never melted. My grits also came out cold. The fried chicken was cooked previously and reheated upon ordering (I could tell because the chicken was dark when it should’ve been golden and the wings weren’t as juicy and tender as they would’ve been had they just came out of a fryer). I was let down to know that the restaurants specialty (and what it is named after) didn’t live up to hype. The highlight of my dining experience was the kindness and hospitality of the server and the fact that the fried fish was hot, fresh, and well seasoned. I had high hopes but definitely wouldn’t rush to get back anytime soon. Just a friendly word of advice: the waffle should be the last thing cooked and on the plate immediately before leaving the kitchen and being served to the customer.
