This review is based entirely on my experience with the management of the restaurant and not on the quality of the food. I can almost guarantee that the owner will argue with me regarding this review, rather than accepting constructive criticism and learning from it to improve their restaurant (look at the unprofessional responses to all other negative reviews). Please beware if you're thinking about booking a private event here and continue reading this review.
My fiancé and I visited MOMO's in October of 2022 and really enjoyed the ambiance and food. The service was not top notch, but it was good. We are getting married in April and inquired about their private event space for our rehearsal dinner April 15th. We were given a brief tour of the event space and put a deposit down on the room in order to the secure the space. Several months pass, and my fiancé reaches out to MOMO to ask questions regarding the private dinner menu and when we could access the space (there was zero communication up to this point), and we receive an email back from the owner that we can't have our rehearsal dinner at MOMO because of a music festival that was communicated to the restaurant in November and MOMO does not own the restaurant space. First of all, you should disclose to customers that you do not own your space and there is potential for this to happen prior to booking! This is a huge risk that your customer should be aware of. Secondly, after receiving information that you will need to close your restaurant on this date, you should have checked your private bookings on that weekend and let your customers know! We would have shown up to the restaurant with our close family and friends only for the restaurant to be closed and a music festival going on! Now with just over two months left until my wedding day, we're left looking for an event space for the rehearsal dinner! I called the restaurant to speak with the owner, and left my details with the hostess. There was zero remorse and no effort to make this right. I never even received a phone call back. Folks, please spend your thousands of...

LOCALS like us: This new restaurant is actually worth the try.
This was our first time at MOMO and I have been dyingggg to go there - I hate reading some of these reviews because clearly not enough people who had the incredible kind of experience that we did do not remember to leave reviews. I told myself I couldn't let it slip my mind as whomever reading this needs to go! We sat outside, and wildly it was cool by the water after an insanely hot day. My MIL reserved a table on the patio, for 9 of us. 4 being young kiddos. Our server Kaylee (I really hope I'm spelling her name right!) was incredible. She was so kind, attentive, and made sure our dinner was perfect. We were celebrating all the June birthdays (MIL, FIL, and BIL all have June bdays) and our lovely nieces and nephew are active kids who enjoyed running back and forth from the water to the restaurant. The staff never made us feel like we were too loud, they were so kind and thoughtful - they even brought over towels for the kids after they ran in the fountain.
Our food was soooooo good. I wanted to try everything but decided on the fried chicken sandwich and truffle fries. The fries were soooo good as well as the sandwich. We had brussels, deviled eggs, and hushpuppies as apps.
I am not exaggerating when I say I could have ate 20 hushpuppies. They were the BEST ive ever had. I would drive an hour if needed too have them. I cannot describe the butter it was just incredible. We ate them so fast I dont have a photo but you NEED to order them - I promise you, the best hushpuppies hands down.
Everything was delicious. The ambience was next level. Service. We came at 6 left at 8 and wish we stayed for sunset as im sure it was magic. The bar was also adorable and beautiful. Its been a while since ive dined out in Charleston and really felt like it was worth every penny. Thank you guys! Kaylee was a gem, the manager on duty was so amazing and attentive too- I cannot remember her name but she was wearing a blue dress, and...
Read moreIf you're looking for a dining experience that perfectly blends creativity, fun, and the best in American cuisine, look no further than MOMO Riverfront Park. As soon as you step inside, you'll be transported to a world of culinary delights, shaped by the craftsman approach to cooking and cocktail program that are the hallmarks of this fantastic establishment.
From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a treat. We were seated upstairs with an incredible view of the riverfront park, and the atmosphere was simply electric. Our waiter was fantastic, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in the door. They served us alcohol nonstop, and our water cups were always full, ensuring that we never wanted for anything.
But of course, the true star of the show was the food. We started with the oysters, which were perfectly fresh and delicious, as well as the Hushpuppies, which were crispy and bursting with flavor. The pimento cheese with pork rinds and pickles/pickled onions was a standout, with the perfect combination of savory and tangy flavors.
For our entrees, we tried the Steak with Mashpotatoes, Basil Chicken, and the Shrimp, and each dish was absolutely incredible. The steak was cooked to perfection, with a rich, smoky flavor that was out of this world. The basil chicken was tender and succulent, with just the right amount of spice, and the shrimp was fresh and perfectly seasoned.
Throughout the meal, we were impressed by the attention to detail that MOMO Riverfront Park displayed. From the seasonal and ever-changing menu to the local and sustainably sourced ingredients, it was clear that this restaurant takes pride in its values and is committed to supporting the local food community.
All in all, we had an absolutely amazing time at MOMO Riverfront Park. With its outstanding food, incredible atmosphere, and top-notch service, it's no wonder that this place is a 5/5 star dining destination. We can't wait to come back and try even more of their fantastic...
