The 5 Point Restaurant located at 2505 Green Bay Rd, North Chicago, IL 60064 was OK. We dined-in, there is no drive thru. There are two separate restrooms one for men and one for women. No kid area, but they do have a medium sized TV in there. Our order consisted of the #1, #3 Gyro and #3 dbl cheeseburger each meal, reasonably priced, came with either side of soup or french fry and drink (common soda dispenser, you serve yourself). Also ordered a chili cheese dog. We opted for french fries, they are the standard crinkle fries and can't go wrong. The gyro meat itself was tasty where as the dbl meat cheese burger patties lacked flavor. I personally prefer the buns to be toasted on both sides, their buns are only toasted on the inside. The Chicago dog that I've had in Texas, has fresh tomato, fresh onions, pickle spear, relish, sport peppers, tangy French's mustard and sprinkled with celery salt. 5 Points Chicago dog had the same ingredients, however minus the relish and celery salt, its a must try, if you're gonna do a tasting, not worth the price. Definitely not a fan favorite. As for their chili cheese dog it is exactly the same ingredients as a Chicago dog with chili and canned cheese. Definitely not what one expects for a chili cheese dog. Chili though, appeared homemade and was flavorful but over powered by the other ingredients of the Chicago dog. All in all, we would not visit this restaurant again. The food we had lacked flavor and presentation. Although we didn't try desserts or shakes, business's only has 1 time to impress customers. The restaurant itself could use some tlc, especially some deep cleaning. I'd also suggest a separate waiting area for take-out, the place is too small with customers waiting right in front of the entrance or at tables, dine-in customers have no...
Read moreThis past late March marked the first time in over a decade that I've had 5 Points whether dining or takeout and I've sure been missing it. I'm a foodie so unfortunately I'm all over the place constantly trying different restaurants.
In the relatively short time I lived in the nearby navy housing in Halsey Village when my dad was at his final tour in the service is mainly when I had my fill of this place except that it was at the original location further down the road near Buckley.
The timing was right on the day I finally came here right after a dental appt nearby that ended at almost 10am when this venue opens. I work overnight and work a lot of early daily overtime prior to the start of my regular shift so I'm usually in bed too early to make it here during the week.
Although this isn't the original location, it's the name that sticks in my head and will always have a place in my heart, got that feeling of nostalgia when I first stepped in.
I remember during '88-'89 when my dad would walk with me cutting thru the baseball field in the housing area so he could buy/cash in his lotto tickets at the Mobil station then sometimes we'd stop at 5 Points for some quick Chicago style grub.
Chicago style food is a way of life around here, definitely part of the culture of living in the Chicago area. The food here has always been delicious and I hope for continued success & prosperity for...
Read moreWe order from here alot for our office. Today I called at 10:45am and placed a big order with alot of I don't want this, want extra that. Mario was awesome and read it back perfectly. We picked it up, and the bags had exactly what was in them per order. They have never done this before but it sure helps to not take someone else's sandwich or have to open the foil and dig through someone else's order. Mario went above and beyond.. our food was right and everything was perfect down to the extra pickles. I called to let them know and Mario remembered me and was happy to hear the praise and thanks but I also wanted to post this publicly. You won't be sorry ordering from here!!! Oh and one person in the office raves about the ranch and would drink it if she could.. it's...
