I stayed here for 3 months while reviewing other places in the area and there is good and bad about every location. It's unfortunate that this almost iconic and historic landmark of Las Vegas is not what would be expected of it anymore. If you are an older couple with no kids and like to party than it's pretty easy to look past some of these things, however, if you're a family with children or value morality in the slightest than this should not be on your stopping list of places to stay or eat. To begin with, the food is lousy and all apart from the club sandwich isn't worth the above average prices. The customer service is even worse. The park is pretty small so it's an everybody knows you and your business neighborhood which is good for safety but not for privacy. The casino is really a dozen video poker machines and the bar is so smoky that even if you're a smoker it's hardly possible to breath. The dog parks are smelly and small and not really a place I want to walk my dogs but the wash area for them was nice. The showers and pool are good and most times your the only ones in either so that's cool too. The park is gated for extra security and since most the long term residents are dinosaur age everyone is drunk and passed out by 8pm so it's pretty quiet. Even though the staff and park have an anything goes policy that could be ok for you if you are a little bit of a rule breaker that doesn't fit well into more traditional places. The rates are low and affordable especially monthly. The park itself is not very close to the strip but it's a 10-15 minute drive or $15 or less uber ride. This place does have some perks and amenities if you're a long term resident but if you're on vacation, it's best to keep the fun near the strip and stay someplace a little more tuned to travelers like circus circus or other in...
Read moreI am taking the time to write my first restaurant review since our decision to try one of our local establishments was solely based on the reviews I read about the service and food. The Hitchin' Post is very unique setting and we were excited for a new local experience, when we arrived we were seated in a glassed off room which was totally cool. There were TV's with Thursday Night NFL on, the room had only one other couple seated at the time. The server did come over to take our drink order right away but it took over 10 min's to receive our beers. At that time we gave our order which included two side salads with two steak orders cooked medium. While we waited several other couples came in, which also waited before they got drink orders. The server brought in an order which she was going to drop off at our table which was the wrong table. At this time we started to discuss the service all the tables were receiving, being in the industry off and on for 25 years I was giving the server the benefit of being new and not trained well. When we did receive our meal which took over 30 min's the salad was brought out we took a bite and then here comes our dinner plates. The steak was cooked well done but at that point we didn't want to be waiting another 20 min's for our food (I took my steak home and ate the side dishes). Several other tables now were waiting for their orders, one guest asked what was taking so long which the server stated she was also waiting on guests in the bar/casino area. This told me that the server had to many tables, management didn't have enough staff scheduled. My husband and I were very disappointed and will not be visiting The...
Read moreNew Years Eve 2017 and were unsure of what to do. So we google "Steak House away from Strip" and read the reviews that were 98% good, one in particular said "don't judge a book by it's cover". We arrived for dinner and my concerns were heightened as I pull into a RV Park. So we ring the door bell "LOL" as we open the door to a bar of people who were all staring us. The bartender (we will call her "flo") directs us to a sliding glass door that automatically opens to smoke free dinning area. At this point we have no clue what this is going to happen. Lesley walks up to us right as we sat down and handed us menus. 2 older gentlemen are overheard talking about how Marijuana will be legal in the morning as we read our steak options. I go with the Ribeye, and my girl goes with the Fillet Mignon. We get 2 glasses of House Red and a sampler platter to star. Wine comes and shortly after so does our appetizer. Smashed it...! and it was good. Zucchini, Chicken Fingers, Mozzarella Sticks and Jalapeno Poppers. We are watching TV and settling in for dinner and it comes. We both go for the steak and bite into this amazingly good, perfectly cooked piece of Grade A beef. The rest is history, including that steak. The mash potatoes are made daily and real. Everything was beautiful. Service was great, fast and very friendly. This is my first review, but def worth typing up. Remember: Don't judge a book by it's cover, enjoy life.....Happy New Year to all. Thanks for a great meal...
