This was an exceptional meal, made with love and attention to detail. It was obvious the chef took pride in everything he served. The menu was simple: a few varieties of Jamaican patties and the day's meal. I had both.

My meal included a house-made vegan protein (seitan, I believe) in rich, flavorful curry, roasted yucca, beans and rice, potato salad, avocado, stewed greens, and salad. All fresh and flavorful. Despite using little to no oil and limited salt, it came together in a harmony of savory and sweet flavors.

Cayenne pepper was available to jazz things up, and I took advantage of that, as I like spicy foods. I had to save my lima bean curry patty for later, and that too was delicious. If I lived nearby, I would eat here regularly.

Some reviewers have described the food as bland, which makes sense if you're accustomed to heavily salted and seasoned dishes. This is HEALTHY food ("ital" – basically "vital" without the "v" – cuisine, as it's called in Jamaica).

If you'd like to try something different in a place that makes you feel welcome and cared for, this stronga vegan's advice is don't sleep on I...

Business 101:

Sampled a cold piece of pizza with my lady. And we both most likely thought they were gonna have it warmed after purchase. We bought it cold.

Out of 1 of 4 of them, a woman there was trying to get us to buy something that wasn't out on display (out of sight). They weren't aware of their products and weren't informative on health benefits at all.

We get in the car and ate the cold pizza. Luckily saliva warms food in mouth. Mins later my stomach is growling and never had my stomach turn like that before and i have a strong stomach. We got ourselves what they call "roots wine" that only acts like a wine due to fermentation process but the fermentation in one drink was 3 days closer to a spoil taste. While the other drink made us cough due to too much of cayenne pepper in the drink. So we not drinking that.

To close up this review: this is exactly why i...

Let’s talk about ITAL .. this cafe actually changed my life. To know and experience the fact that food CAN be nourishing, wholesome, and downright delicious motivated me to regain heal-th and quality in my existing and in my living. My experience here was accompanied by Chocolates wise words “if you don’t have the motivation to eat, what do you have the motivation to do?” He encouraged me to make eating well a priority.. as in the western world we have much disconnected from this principle. It was beautiful to see the absolute diversity of what is possible by using the fruits of the earth and the range of benefits that is naturally present. It is a lifestyle of abundance.

if you are close by I Stronga, make this place and these principles a part of your life, your body will be nourished as well as your soul. ❤️ big thanks I stronga, much love and MANY...

I’ve been coming to this spot for years—back when it was known as Konata’s. Now under the name Istronga, one thing hasn’t changed: the food is still absolutely phenomenal. Let me be clear—this is hands-down the best Vegan Ital food you’ll find. No fake soy chunks or overly processed substitutes. This is real, soulful, from-the-heart cooking that tastes like it came straight out of a Caribbean kitchen. Every bite is flavorful, fresh, and nourishing. You don’t just eat here—you feel the food. And when you finish your plate, you don’t feel heavy or sluggish… you feel good. Full, satisfied, and grateful. Istronga is more than a restaurant—it’s a whole experience. Highly, highly recommended.

I had such an amazing experience at Istronga Vegan Café! I ordered the vegan platter and it was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and filling without being heavy. I also tried their Slippery Elm Nah Tired drink, and let me just say… it was a game-changer. Not only was it soothing and tasty, but later that night I had the best sleep I’ve had in years. The energy and care they put into their food and products really shines through. Everything felt nourishing, intentional, and made with love. If you’re looking for food that feeds both your body and your soul, this is the spot. Highly recommend!
