Colossal Cupcakes — Restaurant in North Olmsted

What a disappointment. We went last Friday after dinner to get some cupcakes to take home for dessert. The store decor is very well done and totally fits the theme, but that’s where the good part ended. The young girl working starts off her sales pitch by telling us how expensive the cupcakes are at over $6 each. I didn’t ask how much they were, but she seemed worried we wouldn’t pay that price. I wish I had taken her warning. She pointed out the 2 cases, one with buttercream and the other with cream cheese frosting. Surely these cases would be refrigerated right? Nope. We got a red velvet, double chocolate, and a banana cream pie cupcake, and that one she said had Bavarian cream filling. She boxed them up for us and we went home, just a few minutes away. I opened up the cupcakes to find them actually warm/ room temp, with soft melted frosting. What a disappointment. Stuck them in the fridge for about 20 min to firm up the frosting, but when we ate them, they were all so dry there’s no way they were baked that day, or even 2 days before. These were old dry cupcakes. The filling in the banana cupcake was maybe a teaspoon of filling, gone in one bite. We shared all 3 of them, but only ate a couple bites each. The calories weren’t worth the dry, bland bites. 3 cupcakes for $20 with the unnecessarily added tip is enough to ensure we will never return to this place. Colossal disaster! I've tried their cupcakes for the 3rd and last time. I would like to give them negative negative stars. The first time I had them I thought they weren't good because maybe they were too cold, the second time I thought maybe buying them the day before was the problem, but this time, which should have been the Goldilocks moment, they were bought about an hour and half before eating and were still awful. The cake was dry like it was a week old flavorless butter bomb holder. The frosting as previously mentioned, was just butter (or shortening), not butter cream. Even at room temperature there was no give to the frosting at all. I received this as my birthday treat and felt horrible my hard working spouse paid for this abomination of a dessert. It blows my mind that this place has good reviews regarding their cupcakes. Maybe we just got the wrong baker each time, but seriously I would like to get my spouse their money back. Actually so bad. I’ve passed this place so many times as I live in the area, but I’m going to have to agree with most other comments that say it’s seriously sub par. And that’s being nice. Got 4 cupcakes total. A strawberry creme, blue velvet (2) and Oreo flavored. Just like the decor and theme inside. LOOKED super cute but once I bit into the blue velvet and strawberry one, immediately regretted it. The actual cupcake was so oily and tasted like cheap $1.00 cake mix, that’s moldy or as others have said, “tasted off.” The icing itself, also completely lackluster, tasteless, not sweet at all and almost tasted sour? I don’t know how to describe it. Just god awful. I’ve made icing myself that tasted 10 times better. So basically $20.00 down the drain for 4 cupcakes that went in the trash. Listen to this and other reviews. Don’t bother going. Seems like they opened last year during COVID and are now cutting corners...
