The food here is literally just OK. Nothing is great that’s on the menu. And on top of that the customer service is terrible they will never give you more than two hot sauce per order no matter if you spend over $20 here which I think is ridiculous. The guys who work at the window don’t mind giving you extra hot sauce but it’s the women that will literally argue you down and not give you more hot sauce even if you want to pay more which is outrageous, I will not be back and I do not recommend anybody going to this taco shop!! I never write reviews but I took the time to write a review on this today because I think that it’s terrible service and others should know about it. UPDATE: I can’t make a separate review for some reason but I went literally yesterday tried to order a California burrito and all I wanted to do was add guacamole and sub to corny Asada for chicken since I don’t eat beef, the girl refused to do it. I’ve gone there multiple times it’s not far from my home. I normally go and get taco Tuesday all the time it seems to be that whenever the women are working the drive-through, they don’t like to give hot sauces or they don’t like to do anything on your order at all but when the men are there, it’s no problem at all I easily would’ve been able to sub that. I even asked to have the manager as she claimed that she was the manager, and would not allow me to change anything so we wind up leaving this is my final review I will never ever be back to that business again due to this type of behavior and disrespect as a customer, I’m spending my money there with you. I refer you guys to people just to have somebody tell me know for a simple request is absolutely ridiculous. It wasn’t busy. There was nobody at all in the drive-through or inside of the location so this was blatantly her just being rude and disrespectful and mean to me and I really don’t like that I will never be back and there’s plenty of taco shops down the street that are absolutely awesome. I have been eating at Alvarado's for 10 years and today I had the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered!

Owner's daughter was taking my order and there were about 3 other people in the restaurant at this time.

I ordered 6 breakfast tacos for the kids w/ egg and chorizo. I was told I had to get potato in the eggs. I know this to not be true because I usually get a burrito (10 year customer) w/ chorizo & egg only.

I asked them to leave out the potato. "No sir, we can only make the burrito that way." So I replied, "so I can order 2 burritos and extra taco sized tortillas but you won't just put the egg & chorizo in the tortilla for me?" "yes sir that's correct. You can go to McDonald's and order it any way you want but we won't make it that way for you! " So it's not that they don't cook the eggs and sausage the way I want but they simply won't put it in the smaller tortilla for my kids to eat!. ( they're 5 and burritos are way to huge) Apparently she is willing to tell me to go to McDonald's and get what I want. THEN SHE STARTED MAKING A "LALA LALA" NOISE WHILE I WAS TAKING SO SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO ME. Granted I was upset at this point but I never said anything worse that your logic is stupid and doesn't make any sense. I can't believe you are actually telling me to go McDonald's! I mentioned that I would actually go to SAN DIEGO TACOS just down the street and get my tacos and Mexican food there...

5-13-24. Updating my review as I have been back a couple more times and their quality has gone downhill. Shrimp cocktail is still awesome and probably the best thing they serve. Have tried the two different flavors of quesadillas to see if the first order was a fluke but unfortunately it was not. They are swimming in grease and inedible as the flour tortillas soak up a lot of the grease and there is still more in the container. They are very inconsistent in getting delivery orders correct. Love the rolled tacos when they provide the correct order but 80% of the time I don’t get the ones with just cheese as ordered but they pour tones of guacamole on them. Wouldn’t be an issue except the person I get them for can’t stand guacamole hence bordering the ones w just cheese. Probably won’t ever go back unless I just want shrimp cocktail. They don’t seem to care about making the orders correct

Mexican shrimp cocktail is awesome! The carne asada quesadilla unfortunately was really chewy and laying in a lot of grease in the container so hopefully this was just a fluke. Flavor was good though. They do not scrimp on the meat in the quesadilla or burrito we got. Chicken is a little bland in the taquitos but that seems to be the norm in most places as I believe they rely on the sauces to dip them in. The only that I would not recommend is their “queso”. This was not queso at all but tasted like the canned cheddar cheese sauce u get on nachos...
