Tucked into the old taco stand spot across from Davis near Back40, just a hop from the NRH train station, Big Daddy Cheesesteaks is slingin’ legit Philly vibes in North Richland Hills. This spot’s got serious potential, and I’m already itching to roll back. Decor & Vibe Alright, the interior’s a bit bare-bones—think “work in progress” with a side of charm. It needs some TLC, maybe a few Philly, or local, sports posters or neon signs to scream “Yo, we’re legit!” But that’ll come with time. Out front, the picnic tables are a total win, especially on a crisp day like today. Only downside? Davis traffic can get rowdy when a souped-up tuner or a Harley rumbles by. Still, the open-air setup’s perfect for chowing down and enjoying a beautiful Texas spring day. Service The crew’s still finding their groove, but shoutout to Jennifer, who’s hustling like a champ to keep things moving. A little polish, and they’ll be firing on all cylinders. For now, the effort’s there, and that’s half the battle. The Food – Oh, Baby! Now, let’s talk about how the steak. The bread? Straight-up Amoroso’s, flown in from Philly. If you know cheesesteaks, you know that’s the gold standard for a traditional Philly cheesesteak —soft, chewy, with just the right crust. 5 stars, no question. Only gripe: my sandwich was so stuffed, the roll could barely hold it together. That’s a good problem, though! The steak itself? A juicy, flavor-packed 4.5 stars. You get your choice of American or Provolone—I went “wit” American for that melty, gooey goodness. Onions and peppers are on deck if you ask, and they’re grilled to sweet, caramelized perfection. The steak’s tender and seasoned just right. But the real MVP? The double-fried, hand-cut fries. 6 stars, y’all—I’m not kidding! Crispy, golden, with the perfect salty kick, they’re next-level. Dip ‘em in Big Daddy’s homemade sauce ( tangy, creamy, magic), and you’re knockin on fry heaven’s door. Verdict Big Daddy Cheesesteaks is a must-try for surrounding locals and anyone craving a proper Philly fix. Yeah, the decor and service are still leveling up, but the food’s already a knockout. Support this spot, bring your crew, and come hungry. I’m ready for my next visit. Keep it rockin’, Big Daddy!

I was hoping for more based on the reviews but this place is a hard pass. We had (2) cheesesteaks. (1) American and (1) Provolone and they were meh’ at best. Heavy on the meat but dry with very little flavor with over cooked onions and missing the mushrooms and peppers which were a $1.75 up charge. The fries were super salty, over cooked and the bottom of the barrel (which should never be served, especially dine in folks). I sent my onion rings back and got a refund which the kid couldn’t even calculate the proper amount to refund me. I didn’t even attempt to eat one of the onion rings. They just looked horrible as they were burnt, super greasy clump of a mess. There were no lids for the regular drinks. This place is overpriced for what you get. $11 for a meat cheese and bun cheesesteak, any add-on is an upcharge. It cost me $37.55 (wasted) for (2) cheesesteaks, (1) fries, (1) onion ring and (2) drinks. I should have taken photos of the food to support my review but didn’t plan on leaving a review until I seen the sign up front that asked for a Google review. Needless to say we probably won’t be back as there are better options in the area that cost less.

So for starters: The cheesesteak is a little on the pricier side, you get a cheesesteak, lg fries and drink, you can see this going up to $19 a meal (around $16 for reg fries and drink) With that being said... Fries are same price or cheaper than alternatives, and way better than most places (in fact, at this price range, only 2 restuarants in a 25 mile range come to mind). They are bang on solid! Well salted, they're great! The cheesesteaks are hit and miss. If you go in during a very busy period, they can come out a little under or over seasoned, but if it's lunch and there's just a couple people in there, they absolutely nail it. Also, the cheasesteaks are loaded up on meat! So when it comes out they're amazing! It's also not the slop that some cheesesteak places put in, and try to drown in onions and cheese. It's solid meat that has just the right amount of onion and cheese to compliment it, not the other way around. Their sauce could use some tweaks but it also great. All-in-all, I highly recommend trying them out! I'm sure because they just opened up, they have to iron out consistency, but they're doing great for starting out. :)
