The name is wrong on Google. Should be The Corner Cafe.
Walked in at 8:30 on a Friday morning to about 8 tables of customers. Everybody eating there was over 50, with many over 65.
The first thing that hit me was the pungent odor of backed up sewer and old dishwater. Not inviting.
In spite of this, I continued on and was seated promptly by the host, especially since most of the tables/booths were empty. I chose a booth.
The host promptly brought the coffee and water. The coffee was better than expected, and helped mask the initial room odor. He kept the cup full my entire visit, so I had to say "'enough" or I would have been bouncing off the walls.
The single waitress was pleasant and helpful. My order consisted of the basic fare I get so I can compare apples to apples, two eggs over medium, bacon, grits, and a biscuit.
Within 5 - 7 minutes, the order came. As expected, the eggs were small, the grits were instant, the bacon was thin and barely warm, and the biscuit was warmed over. The whole plate tasted the same, with the biscuit possessing some funky after-taste of not-too-clean baking sheet.
Overall, the place is average. None of the food was "good," and everything seemed pre-packaged. I've eaten dinner here, and was less than impressed, and would never spend the time or money on dinner again.
If someone wants a place that serves average food and they can sit and talk with their friends, then this is the place.
Price, with tip,...
Read moreOlder people love this place. It was popping when I arrived. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with fries and pickles on the side. A friend with me ordered todays lunch special which was chicken fried steak. Tried his meal and was disappointed, the flavor was off, but the meat was tender and it had a decent crunchiness. My chicken sandwich started good but the more I ate the harder it was to chew. The bun was grocery store quality. It was worth $6.99 buy cost $10.99. The fries were over salted and super soggy. I got a cup of coffee that was promised to be fresh and found that it certainly wasnât and neither was the refill, even though I was specifically promised otherwise. Canât justify the price for the quality. I know if I would have said something the kind waitstaff would have changed things out without a problem, but they were already so bombarded with senior citizens I couldnât find it in my heart to trouble them further. Sweet southern hospitality, just wish the food was as good as...
Read moreFrom the moment you walk through the door, it's like you've entered a time capsule. From the decor to the ladies working, this place is authentic. Sweet tea and sweet treats, all guilt free while being made with Splenda, the possibilities are endless. The food. Amazing! To say the least. I opted for the chicken fried steak with eggs and potatoes. So delicious. So tender you won't need a knife. My daughter got the mini corn dogs with fries. Also pretty darn good. Not sure there's an item that wouldn't be home made from scratch and taste amazing.
The sweet couple John and Arlean let my daughter take the last cinnamon roll (Arlean shared with me that they make them from scratch on Fridays and once there gone there gone) after they already ordered it. Too kind. I hope they enjoyed there free breakfast; it was the least I could do for their kindness towards my daughter.
We'll definitely be...
