Signs posted out front showing “under new management”, and it shows. I walked in to get a table for 10 at about 1220. I was meet with a packed parking lot and a full restaurant. Every server and staff member was running around with trays upon trays serving a huge wedding party. Acknowledging the stress and workload they were under, as I myself have been a server before, I knew it would take a few minutes to take care of my groups request. As the kitchen slower and the party was served, we got our table.
Our server Ashley was expedient with introducing herself before getting our drink orders and a good amount of coffee out to us. Once my party was fully there, she was calm, cool, collected, and very experienced with how to deal with a group of our size. She made her way around gathering individuals orders before letting us know due to our size, it would be placed to the kitchen in 2 separate tickets. Unfazed, she held her word and the other servers and staff came around with more coffee and assisted Ashley in delivering our food.
Her timing was perfect from delivery to asking and checking up on everyone, and even leaving us be to our food as there were no issues with it. The food itself was fantastic! I ordered the steak and onion Benedict and a single chocolate chip pancake, which was great. None of the party’s food was over or underdone, pancakes were perfectly fluffy, and the sizes were matching the prices.
Even with a 18% gratuity added for parties greater than 8, Ashely and the entire staff earned their tips and these 5 stars and our future business. 10/10 recommend this new culture while you present a positive demeanor...
Read moreOpen under NEW management, House of Breakfast was a delightful, delicious surprise today! Memories of a not-so-great experience were washed away with the warm smile of greeting from the hostess, who seated us immediately (we were there at "brunch hour, 10:30- 11:00a.m.) As our server was working with another table, the Owner himself came over cheerfully and welcomed us again, and took our drink order. We were delighted with the extensive menu, which includes all of the best parts of breakfast: Combination plates, pancakes, waffles, omelettes and Benedicts. My husband chose the " Jack Attack" platter (2 eggs, bacon strips, and 2 pancakes). I chose good ol' Biscuits and Sausage gravy with 2 eggs (pictured), with a side of home fries. Breakfast was served promptly by a friendly food runner, and Wow! was it a lot of food for the money! I have worked in a Breakfast Diner in the past, and I KNOW good biscuits and gravy. These were Very Good! Fluffy biscuits smothered in savory country gravy, loaded with plenty of sausage. .. and the home fries... Come on! Cooked and seasoned to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside-- really good dipped in that gravy!! Our server checked on us several times, the restaurant was sparkling clean. I noticed that they serve Boba Tea... My granddaughter's favorite! On the way out, I spoke to the new owner and told him how much we enjoyed everything. He asked me to spread the word to help rebuild the business and gain favor with locals again: so, Sir, Here you go! I would give 6 stars if I could ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟. We wish you much success, and, we...
Read moreAug 2021: When I first went through the reviews before visiting, they read like a battle between the 1-stars and the 5-stars. Most of the 1-stars complained about the eggs benedict. Since I was on vacation and feeling adventurous, I had to find out for myself.
To give you an idea about this restaurant, we ended up going 3 time during our vacation. Each time, we brought another family member to enjoy the food.
First of all, there was a wait due to diminished staff. But we found this wait at all restaurants while at Topsail. So not a factor in this review. Even with the crowds, every waitress we had was very attentive. The food was prepared and arrived quickly at our table.
I found the eggs benedict hollandise sauce debate in the reviews is without merit. Mine was exceptional in taste every time.
I had to drop a star for precise of our meals. The 1st visit, I ordered my egg benedict soft and received one perfect and one hard. But the waitress and the cook were quick to fix this. The 2nd visit, I ordered a carolina omelet (full of meats) and got a california omelet (full veggies). Again, the waitress and cook were quick to remedy the order. The 3rd visit, my son-in-law ordered the blueberry waffle and received a plain one. Being hungry, he just shrugged his shoulders and ate it even though the waitress offered to reorder it.
Given the area, the prices were reasonable. If we visit Topsail again, "House of Breakfast" is on our to-do list.
