The Backyard Tavern — Restaurant in North Topsail Beach

This place is a dive bar, and I normally enjoy a good dive bar. The outside bar has a broken cooler held together with duct tape, and igloo coolers. No local beers on tap. It is a good concept but feels like it went 80% of the way and stopped. The men's room had a covered urinal and two broken locks on the stall. Easy fixes but left alone. Sorry, not impressed. Food truck was a good feature. Loved the new coleslaw recipe on The Carolina burger. Asked for ketchup just in case, but didn't need it. Lots of friendly locals here. I forgot my cash and one of the locals offered me some cash so I could play a couple games of pool. Younger crowd so I thought it could get rowdy as the night progresses, but what I saw was they all seem to take care of one another. If one got rowdy the others calmed him down. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Had such a great time here! The atmosphere was fun, the music had me dancing all night, and the drinks were perfect. The bartenders were not only super friendly but also cute and quick with service — major bonus!

Also, can we talk about the security? Professional, respectful… and yes, very easy on the eyes 👀🔥. I felt safe the whole time, and that’s a big deal for me.
