Visiting from out of town, and decided to go here with my mother. She enjoyed herself, but my meal was less than pleasant. I ordered the shrimp burrito, on the menu it reads that it comes with rice and beans. Taste left much to desire, but I may be spoiled since I live in Texas and have access to authentic Mexican cuisine.
Anyways, I received my meal and questioned it because it looked different from past visits but was told that’s just how it comes. Cool, I’m not in the kitchen nor a regular patron. After our lunch, we got the check and my mom commented on how much more than usual it was. Why? Because we were charged for a burrito dinner. No problem, easy fix right? Well not when you’re dealing with a condescending host who asked me several times, “Well did you eat the rice and beans?” I told him I ate what was on my plate, was I supposed to return it, even though the menu says all burritos come with rice and beans? Not sure if he is unfamiliar with the menu, but the condescending tone needs to be addressed by management. I also asked to speak to the manager but was not given the opportunity to do so. As someone who does consultant work for small businesses, I suggest an etiquette and training course for the young man.
I’ll be sure to be back, to see if this is regular...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible. I haven’t been to a Pepe’s in about 20 years. It’s not what I remember. The salsa was like tomato soup. We ordered an appetizer and it was melted cheese with chorizo on top. The cheese was tough. I ordered flautas. They were dried out. My husband ordered some kind of burrito with guacamole on it. It was bland. The only thing that was edible was the refried beans. We didn’t even finish it. My husband also had a margarita on the rocks. He said it was good. Later on that night he got really sick. I’m pretty sure it was food poisoning. I have never seen anyone throw up that much. It was explosive. He also had diarrhea. But the vomit, I’ve never seen anything like it. It scared me so bad I almost called 911. It was VERY BAD. We’ll NEVER go...
Read moreThis is one of my all-time favorites for authentic Mexican food. Busy, with seating becoming less and less likely for those that come in, as it usually is, on a Friday night. The staff is friendly & on top of things, as they usually are. Our orders are taken & arrive in record time. Everything is as it should be. The food is hot & delicious, even for the one of us that doesn't order Mexican Cuisine! Time to take our leftovers home, because there's always something left for later.when paying and can't help but notice that they're sure seemed to be a lot of food for a nominal amount of money. I can always count on Pepe's for a great meal & "at home" family atmosphere. Too bad I live over 400...
