We entered the Schnecksville location approx. 7:30PM last night aware they close at 8. The last party was leaving and now it's just my wife and I. No sooner had we placed our order when the crew started sweeping the floors beginning their closing. This alone is unforgiveable in my book as it makes customers feel rushed, or in the way. Very unprofessional and probably unsanitary kicking dust and dirt around while folks are eating. The place lacks warmth and character and has the feel of a high school cafeteria to begin with. Burgers were mediocre at best and the fries were inedible. Cold, hard, tasteless. So we ate our dinner since we paid for it and our mistake of being there and I decided I wanted dessert, a chocolate milkshake. Can't screw that up, right? My wife went to the counter at 7:59PM and made the seemingly innocent request when the kid at the counter yelled, "NOOOO!". I'm not exaggerating he literally yelled and disappeared into the area behind the cooking area. It took every ounce of my common sense and self restraint to keep myself from smacking the rude, the disrespect and the imbecile out of that kid. How about, "I'm sorry ma'am but we are closing up" or SOMETHING civilized, professional, polite or reasonable as we were still eating our damn dinner! We're customers, still in the process of finishing our dinner and you're not yet technically closed but why not just make the damn milkshake, make some new friends, be accommodating to your customers. The request was simple enough. They totally blew it, WHILE DISPLAYING INCREDIBLE DISRESPECT.. Mr. Owner/Franchisee, YOU ARE IN THE HOSPITALITY BUSINESS, GET A FREAKIN CLUE!! I never thought I'd say this but choose Burger King or MacDonalds, both a couple minutes away...with a...
Read moreCame here after the lights at the zoo event. We arrived a little before closing and the manager and team working were not only understanding but enthusiastic about serving us. When I found out they were closing shortly I said that if we couldn't dine in we would have no problem going somewhere else and they insisted we stay. The manager was then also very helpful with menu selections and taking our large order (3 adults, 5 kids). I wish I had gotten his name so I could properly praise his professionalism with us.
I ordered "The Big Way" which is basically their version of a Big Mac without the middle piece of bread. It came with two patties, American cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce, and thousand island dressing. The burgers here are hard pressed in the "smashburger" style. I found the burger to be quite good. I'm not sure that I found the burger to be worth the price though. These prices were similar to a Shake Shack type stop (which I do find to be a better burger) and the way you ordered was also interesting. The burger was $8 and change, but then to add fries and a drink to make it a combo was an additional $5. It isn't criminal to charge $13 for this amount of food, but comparing it with other combos that fall in that range, I am not sure it is competitive.
The fries were pretty good, and they were very fresh. Directly from the fryer to our table, they were too hot to even eat at first, which is a good thing. Lightly seasoned and crisp, I enjoyed them.
I would come back here or try another of their locations (I didn't realize how large of a chain this is) but as of right now it's definitely outside of my top 3 smashed burger style chain spots. With that said though, Jake's Wayback Burger -...
Read moreThe Big Easy burger was tasty, but lacked an impact. For the price ($10 w/out fries) it's not extraordinary and doesn't differentiate itself from establishments with drive thrus. What little bacon was on the burger was paper thin, the cheese was great, burger patties were perfect, one slim shred of lettuce and one tomato. Make your own judgement there...
The burger only came with sauce on the top, unlike the photo on the board or online. Big miss here. The franchise bottom dollar is heavily in play here with the limited amount of sauce one might expect on a sandwich. In a game of margins, the sauce is one area in which to win a customer over. They literally give it away with fries, so why not with a sandwich?
This brings me to the sides. Fries and drink are an extra $3-5 depending on size & fries/onion rings. From there it's an additional $2.69 to upgrade to a shake. Here's the rub folks, you can have a shake just not the limited edition one. At this juncture there's no winning for the consumer.
I should have walked out, but since this was my very first time I stuck around for just the burger. A one and done experience for me.
This experience was dine-in with a few questions fielded by the young woman behind...
