Florence Pizza & Family — Restaurant in Northampton

We were riding our motorcycles from New York to Vermont and stopped here for lunch, completely based on the stars they had earned over other pizza places and we were not disappointed!!

We ordered a large pepperoni pizza and potato skins to share -- everything was so tasty! We're New York City pizza snobs and we all agreed that this was FANTASTIC crust, sauce, cheese and cooking method! We were SO IMPRESSED that we stopped there a second time on the way home for TWO MORE PIES!

Their pizza crust was perfect! Slightly chewy on the inside, crispy but not burnt on the outside. Their sauce wasn't overtly sweet, nor acidic -- i was just right naturally! The bubbly mozzarella cheese was of a fine quality, not too oily and slightly browned from baking.

You know how when you bite into a peach that isn't quite ripe and it's kind of hard? That's what I experienced today with my chicken from my chicken marsala dinner. The chicken wasn't dried out, no, it was hard. How is that possible? Did they nuke it? I've nuked chicken and haven't had it come out like that. It's a mystery to me. And this isn't the first time I've had chicken marsala from this restaurant. Tonight, the chicken was hard, the sauce was tasteless, and the mushrooms we're clearly past their prime . And if you've had mushrooms past their prime, you know what I'm talking about. They get kind of a fishy flavor to them. Needless to say I didn't finish the dish and it wasn't...

I've been going to eat at Florence Pizza for years so I have all of those experiences to compare a recent visit to. The service was excellent! The food portions have been cut way back though. My eggplant grinder had very little eggplant and sauce on it, making for a very dry eating experience. 😒 Also it's time for them to do a deep cleaning and maybe update the decor. The same old dusty displays have been there FOREVER! I know I'm maybe nitpicking here but their windows (especially upper ones) are filthy. All in all it was an okay experience, nothing to write home about. With the number of (good) restaurants in Florence and Northampton there's really no need to spend your money at this...
