BOMBYX Center for Arts & Equity — Attraction in Northampton

I was here for a holiday party and the venue was very nice and spacious for the amount of people that were there. I can’t attest to other aspects of the venue because I was just a guest and it was my first time being there, but it seems nice. The parking situation was weird because apparently there was a different event going on at the same time in a different part of the building, and we were kicked out of the parking lot by someone associated with the other event (I think it was a concert or something) and we had to park next door...

My husband and I moved to Florence MA from Minneapolis one year ago. We have already attended four outstanding music performances at the BOMBYX Center for Arts & Equity. What a gem that place is! They bring in incredible national (and international!) talent for such a local venue. But they provide a friendly, local "feel" when you attend a concert there, making you feel a sense of intimacy with performers and the folks sitting around you. Acoustics and lighting are excellent. I highly recommend...

Pluses: Great acoustics, nice visuals. Cons: Seating is in (uncomfortable) church pews. The stage is low so sightlines are poor. I was in the 6th row and I had a lot of trouble seeing seated performers and I'm 6'2". All seats are general admission (two different sections - Premier and General). So you need to be there an hour early to get a decent seat. Sitting in pews. Overall, we won't be back unless there is an artist we really want see who will be...
