4 of us (siblings, 65-77) went for lunch at noon. We were greeted by Sean and shown to a very comfortable booth that could have held 6 of us. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The cleanliness was top notch, including the rest rooms. June was our waitress and was very attentive, told us to take our time (it was very quiet at that time) and gave us a very complete explanation of the menu and specials. After ordering June came by to make sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. When the meals were ready they were brought out by the chef, Ron. 3 of us ordered the fish and chips which, by consensus, were the best we had ever had; great crusty coating, large piece of fish perfectly cooked. The plentiful sides were French fries and cole slaw. The fries were crispy outside, tender inside. The fourth ordered a Reuben sandwich; large, plenty of tender meat. He said it was excellent. Getting ready to leave we met Ron again on the way out and complimented him on the great meals. He explained about how careful they were about getting quality ingredients, how often they received deliveries, etc. You could tell he was someone who cared about what he was providing. The four of us agreed that we all had a new favorite place to go. Looking forward to our...
Read moreMy husband, son, and I were at The Neighborhood Tavern on Sunday for brunch. Before I made our reservation, I called to make sure they were having their normal menu on Mother’s Day. I specifically asked if there was a special menu for Mother’s Day. I was told that they would be having the normal brunch and all day menus.
I called again the day before as my husband does not eat eggs and I wanted to know if there were sides on the menu. I was told that sides were available on the menu. I was told to be sure to tell our server if this was due to an allergy so they could keep foods separate. I certainly was not told that there would be a brunch.
While the brunch was lovely, I certainly do not eat enough to make it worth $32. What I would have ordered would have been eggs benedict for $16 (and they probably would have been hotter). My son would have ordered the same. This incorrect information I was given, as recent as the day before going, meant that our bill was double what it would have been. To me, this not only misinformation but really pretty unethical. I was not expecting a $121 bill for brunch for three people.
I will not be back.
I sent an email to the restaurant to give them a chance to respond before I started posting reviews. ...
Read moreHi! I love The Neighborhood Tavern and I used to go with my family ALL THE TIME. However, they changed their menu which has definitely degraded their food. I must say their food selections are still great, however the menu is just not it for me personally. I usually got a burger and they definitely changed the type of bread and much more. Additionally, the service is pretty good, but sometimes it gets so busy that it's really slow. The atmosphere can sometimes be pretty chill in the weekday afternoons, but on the weekend nights it's very hectic and loud. You can't even hear what other people are saying at your own table. So it really depends on what you like. I haven't gone back in a while now and I really hope they change their menu back :) Hope everyone enjoys their food!!!
UPDATE:
I got takeout nachos today because my family and I wanted to give this place one more chance. Over the phone, we ordered pulled pork on the nachos. However, when we got there, they said they had none and we had to choose something else. We had to wait longer as a result and they didn't give that much meat. I could have made these same nachos at home. It was very dry. I miss the old...
