Luna's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Northfield Center Township

First I will say this. Lunas Restaurant has good food. And the ladies there are very sweet and nice. Everytime I have went personally the ladies were nice.

This most recent time I’ve went. Which was today! 1/9/2021 on a Saturday. My experience was NOT good and kind of put a bad taste in my mouth regarding the establishment. More so the owner/manager? Not exactly sure who he is or what his roll is. Everytime I have gone there he is pretty much just in the front checking people out or sitting there.

But this is why I had to take a couple stars off. Prior to today? I would’ve rated like a 4-4.5 Today I ordered my food via phone. Drove 20 minutes to go and pick it up, and drove 20 minutes back just to see that my order was incorrect. I should’ve checked my order fully. I usually do. But I trusted them today. I got to call to make my complaint and perhaps give them time to correct things. No answer. Kept going straight to voicemail for 15+ minutes and their mailbox was full. So I go BACK to the restaurant and let them know that my order was incorrect and the phone was possibly off of the hook.

They retook my order and remade the food. Ok that’s completely fine. The owner? The guy? Not sure. Then goes into telling me while I’m waiting on my food that it’s about the satisfaction of the customer and making sure they are happy and get what they want because we are the ones spending our money. Seeming to be very understanding and nice. I then ask him what was the price difference because I just wanted to make sure I didn’t under or over pay. He says not to worry about it, and I mean I was slightly because if I over paid I wanted the difference back. But he kept brushing it off.

As I was sitting there I was thinking about the experience I had and prior to that I had a visit where a waitress did spill awhole cup of juice on me lol. But I let that go and decided to give it another chance... now we are here...

After waiting for the food for me and my 6 year old son that I had with me at the time. I decided I no longer wanted the food. I just wanted my money back and I was going to go and stop to get my son something to eat because at this point he just needed to eat. So then I tell him I don’t want the food I just would want a refund.

He then says that he doesn’t want to do that because that means he is losing money from the food... Huh???? You just literally sat there with a drawn out speech about how it’s not about the money. It’s about the heart and blah blah. Basically just lied to my face lol. I thought it was about the customer? And their happiness? Is their a no refund policy? NO! So he basically refused to give me my money back. I told him that ok but I more than likely won’t be coming back and this was my last time. He just said Ok! Ok that’s fine. Really???? Is that how you treat a customer? What if I was a critic or something? You NEVER KNOW who you are talking to or who a person knows. Keep that in mind.

OTHERWISE I do like the restaurant. But maybe just give him a training on customer service? And LYING lol. Will I go back? I don’t know... I never really do reviews but I had time today and was pretty annoyed so hey...

First time visitor on 8/12/18 @ 1:30pm...establishment was clean told to take seat anywhere, first impression our server had to be told (because she was on her phone texting) that we were seated at her station, server didn't bring menu to table, asked her about the specials that were being served from 1pm-4pm daily that included free dessert for $5.99 (should have been our first clue why the special was so cheap) I ordered the liver w/onions mashed potatoes w/gravy meal also came with a salad and rolls, my husband ordered the scrod, mashed potatoes w/gravy, salad and wedding soup. Server brought our salads and my husbands soup, salads were ok and soup was good, about 5 minutes maybe less from the time she brought our salads & soup our meal was in front of us and I said to the server "That was really fast" she chuckled and walked away (by the way no rolls were given with our meal) I started with my potatoes and the gravy and mashed potatoes were sour asked my husband to taste his and he had sour potatoes and gravy as well, I laughed and said wow your fish looks like it was microwaved and guess what it was. While at the restaurant I decided to google reviews and one caught my eye that said fish is fresh on Wednesdays & Fridays, my guess is that the fish was leftover from Friday and reheated in the microwave along with my meal which is why the meals came quickly. Our server asked how our meals were I said they were "just ok" she left we were receiving our bill from a different server she asked if we wanted our free dessert she said it was rice pudding we hesitantly said yes but to our surprise it was actually good. My first impression was not positive sadly I will not...

I went there with my husband for lunch, and despite the fact that they were short staffed, the person who served us was super creepy and inappropriate. That person serving us, was middle aged lady(50s/60s maybe?), very pale, bright eyes, she has a strong russian/Ukranian accent (I'm an immigrant too, so I can tell), and she didn't like the fact that my husband was "too quiet" and "too serious"... mind you he had a horrible headache that day, he was just sitting there waiting for his food. That lady came towards him and she grabbed my husband's shoulders while he was sitting and she was standing by him, and then she proceeded to pinch the skin between his eyebrows, saying that "he would get too many wrinkles if he kept looking like that".... My husband was mortified. If that as a male server doing this to me, we would call it harassment, but because it was an older woman doing it to a man... than it's ok?! We were very uncomfortable, so when walked to the cashier to pay, she followed us and stood there staring at us, trying to intimidate us, to verify if we would complain or give her a tip. That woman is a freak. I am Italian and in my country people tend to be very personal, but we know our limits and we respect other people's personal space in their countries... so she doesn't have an excuse.
