First time trying this place out. Thought it had high star ratings that it would be good. Me and the wife ordered pho, the soy chicken wings and a pork banh mi sandwich.

Food: the pho was a bit salty and while it smells good, it doesn't taste like how it smells. Kind of taste like it was those short cut pho recipes or even from those instant pho packets. It was salty, didn't taste much if any rock sugar, didnt have any depth in the broth, honestly could barely taste the beef flavor which had me thinking it was instant pho to me and it was lacking a lot of meat and veggies. Only meat we had was probably brisket only, could be a different cut but still, and we got a small portion of bean sprouts and mint and a slice of lime each. So not only was it lacking flavor, it lacked portion on all levels. Also i should mention, they dont have any additional condiments like some soy sauce or fish sauce or chili oil on the side. They just think their salty pho dont need anything else added. And before I forget, they didn't serve us any water either.

The chicken wings were decent. Very strong soy sauce flavor and again, tad bit salty but was probably the best thing we ate.

Banh mi was very very disappointing. Again, salty, not your usual bbq ish, sweet, salty, spicy banh mi. No paté and again, very stingy with the veggies.

The price for all of this was 60 bucks. 2 medium sized pho bowls were 15 bucks each, chicken wings like 10 bucks and banh mi like 10 bucks plus tax and tip yatayatayata. For what we paid for, it was not worth it with the portion and flavor, or lack there of.

Service was just OK. They weren't very informative, just straight forward and we didn't really know how to order becuz usually you get seated first and then order from a menu. Here was like Starbucks, order at the bar and go wait at ur table.

I came here becuz of the ratings. For those that eat a lot of pho, this place will disappoint you. For those that are new, I guess it's worth a try but this was the first and will be last time I come here. Tank is still the best spot in...

1* explanation: I absolutely love food at this restaurant. Have been dining and taking out/delivery for such a long time that we would develop great relationship, warm greeting/service and overall very nice in person communication WITH PREVIOUS STAFF. The lady who was working before was such a great addition to the team. She would always ask about family ( at some point I even thought she was one of the owners) Today we had such an unpleasant experience , I felt awkward that somebody can treat another person so poorly, let alone while conducting customer service business. SIENA told us that, at around 7:20 we not going to have in restaurant dining experience. We will have only take out option. Which she repeated multiple times in a very firm/ categorical tone. Meanwhile the restaurant closes at 8 pm. There was a dozen other guests already dining ( all of them stayed after we left, so clearly we weren’t holding up anybody). Siena does not care about the wellbeing of this business. Again, the food is great, previous staff was fantastic, ( that’s why I brought over so many friends to share great experience ) but after today I would think twice to come back. And probably avoid place if I see Siena working there. UPDATE: thank you for prompt respond. I have changed review to 5*. ( I don’t want any bad reputation for your business, again, always had great experience ) We would love to come back, hopefully it would be...

We've been to this location ballpark 4-5 times in 2 months since we found that there's a Vietnamese food place nearby! The ginger chicken bahn mi is superior, absolutely recommend with jalapenos! (They aren't too spicy, but they add a layer of delicious with the lemongrass chicken!) The fresh shrimp spring are also just delicious, the peanut sauce that comes with is a REALLY nice consistency I didn't know I needed- it's perfect for taking a bite, drizzling some into the roll, and having another bite. Most peanut sauces are more "dipping" sauces, this is way more brilliant. They also carry a sparkling yuzu and white peach drink by Moshi that is REALLY delightful, and perfect with the bahn mi.

My guy ordered the beef pho last time, and I tried it, and I wanted to steal it, but my chicken curry was also really good, so I definitely want to order these again! There's a few other locations around the area, but under a slightly different name, Lotus Banh Mi. Guy and I feel like the consistency between the 2 locations are excellent! HIGHLY recommend!

The atmosphere at this location is great, it's off the street, with parking just around the corner, and the location has a very comfortable, fresh, feeling. We're hoping to stop by for lunch one afternoon, get some things we haven't tried yet, and walk around the area some- there's a great park about...

Actual review is 4.5. We visited this place on a last Sunday, having read great reviews and in desperate need of some good pho broth. After moving to Chicago last Nov from Atlanta, we have struggled to find solid, memorable Vietnamese food. But this place might have changed that. Beef pho - broth is super clean, not oily, not sweet (thankfully) and nicely balanced. I really enjoyed it, as did my husband. Our only complaint about the pho is the beef quality. Not sure if it was overcooked, as it took quite a bit of chewing to manage, or just very sinewy. Either way, I think I would have been happier with just the broth, noodles, and accompaniments- without the beef. That is a first for us, as the beef is generally a selling point in pho. Pork Banh Mi - very good. The bread reminded me of my travels through southeast Asian, where foreigners often discover how amazing baguette bread can actually be. The flavors were nice, balanced, nothing overwhelming. Would definitely recommend. Shrimp Spring Rolls with peanut sauce- very good, very light, great peanut sauce. Overall, we liked this place and will come back, just may order our pho without beef unless it was just an “off” day.

Another update after a little later. The place is till around. The food is still great :) ----------------- Update after a couple years. The place is till around. The food is still great :) ----------------- Finally there is a Vietnamese eatery to go to. Been looking for pho in the area for a while and accidentally found this counter service restaurant while waiting for Metra train to go to work. Pho was good, noodle dishes were great. Service was excellent Will definitely come back and hope this eatery survives as previous two places open in this spot did not last more than a couple years.
