I can shop this place every month over the last 5 years. However, I only went there 3 times because of the following reasons: Like other reviewers say , you will be rushed with or without children. So many different colors are interesting. The first time I went there, I was totally ignored, and I also had very limited time, and I left. 2nd time I was there, I wanted to look around and possibly ask questions about yarn type extra, and the lady kept watching me and kept asking if I had everything I needed. I keep telling her I do not know some of the yarns, so I would like to learn what I can do with them. Instead of helping me and telling me what they are for, she kept saying OK and leaving and coming back again and asking the same question. I thought people here had to be pros, so I decided to learn somewhere else and left. They do not like kids for sure! I came here with my kid because she loved the things from window and wanted me to knit her something from the first 2 experiences I did not want to go but she really wanted me to knit her something so I told her to pick a color and I will do knit that for her. When we were in, she was so excited, and she wanted to see all the cheerful colors they immediately came and said, "No touching!" How would you decide the yarn without touching? I asked my girl not to touch them, but we could take a look closer. Even if she was not touching, the lady kept standing next to us and making us so uncomfortable. My daughter wanted a yarn so much, but I felt so unwelcomed in this store 3 times, so we left. I do not think they know anything about being polite and nice to people. Last after I had that experience, I went to retailers to make my girl happy. I realized that their prices were way more expensive than any other retailer store we visited.
It's definitely not a good experience each time I visited.
If you want to shop there, (1) go there knowing that they may not be kind and you could most likely be rushed (2) learn about yarns and what you can do with them somewhere else they definitely do not want to educate, (3) Once you learn what you need, then look for retailers' online shops, then visit them knowing what you are paying is not available anywhere else with 1/3 of their...
Read moreI work in home health and enjoy finding little treasures, like independent coffee shops and LYS (local yarn stores)! So, I decided to check out Three Bags Full. I will say that I had very little LYS "experience" under my belt, and as a crocheter, my previous experience led me to believe that these shops were really only for knitters. I was happily surprised to find this not the case at this shop! This store is HUGE, but not "cold" or "antiseptic"--very warm and inviting! The two ladies who were working there were VERY helpful, welcoming me upon my arrival, and explaining how the yarn (the ridiculous selection of yarn) was organized around the store. If I doubted whether crocheters were welcomed here initially, that doubt was removed upon noting several sample crochet projects around the shop, including a lovely afghan above the fireplace! Most of the yarn I have worked with was "big box store" acrylic, for larger projects, and I decided to purchase some higher-quality, natural fiber yarn for a smaller project for myself. My beautiful hanks of Madelintosh were both wound for me, and I know...
Read moreI've been going to 3BF about 12 years now and always recommend them to people who ask me where I got my yarn. They definitely have the largest selection and the most helpful staff I've found. Lynette has found several women who are very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. They have a long list of classes you can take, and also help out individual knitters (check with them for details on that). New knitters, don't be intimidated- they have all levels of projects to suggest and all price ranges for yarn. They are overflowing with samples to inspire you. And as someone else noted, they're just a couple doors down from a Starbucks- sounds like a great...
