This restaurant is wonderful for those with and without dietary restrictions. There were ample vegetarian and gluten-free options on their menu. I was also impressed with the amount of options there were on the menu. I don't often see Masala Lassi, and there were dishes with different textures, taste, and spice level.
All the food was amazing, but I would strongly suggest the Samosa Chat and the Bhindi Masala. Okra is usually slimy, but the way they prepared the bhindi was extremely clever. The okra was thinly sliced and had a satisfying crunch (no slime!). And the flavor profile? It went extremely well with rice and the other dishes we ordered, the Dal Tadka and the Methi Malaai Matar. I also brought back Goat Curry for family members who were unable to make dinner, and it received rave reviews. In fact, one member actually ate a second dinner because they couldn't resist the food aroma.
For those who are health conscious, I would also recommend this restaurant as they do not oversalt their dishes. It was perfectly balanced to be able to detect the Indian spices.
The server was very kind and very attentive. I have to admit though, even if the service was so-so, I would still go back due to the food! I hope you give this restaurant a chance. They just opened and I could tell put a lot of heart into their menu planning and service. Food can convey love for culture and community, and that love was felt in...
Read moreMoksha Indian Grill is the second Indian restaurant to open here in "whitebread" Northbrook, Illinois, and it's a real treat. The menu features plenty of chicken, lamb and 15 vegetarian dishes! It also includes a variety of rice dishes and breads. Our group ordered these entrees: chicken tikka masala, lamb badaami and bhindi masala. We also ordered kashmiri naan, laccha paratha and basmati rice. The naan was fluffy and sweet and a fine accompaniment for our spicy entrees. The paratha was not what we had expected, but it also complemented our main meal. I enjoyed the bhindi masala, okra stewed with onions and tomatoes in a ginger-garlic sauce. It had a wonderful smoky flavor! The chicken and lamb dishes were tasty and well-seasoned, but a bit spicier than expected. My partner has often requested "baby spice" at Indian and Pakistani restaurants, and the dishes are typically still too spicy for her delicate system. Decor at Indian restaurants in this area can be challenging, although Moksha's dining room was well appointed with dark wood paneling and a large cream-colored wall. Its effect was warm and welcoming. Our server, Bhupathi, was friendly and patient. He was also very attentive, despite a busy Saturday...

Warm butter naan was soft and glistening on one side while gently crackly on the other. Chilli naan parted ways with crackles due to its incorporation of green chillies whose oil softened its dough. And while smoother than expected, the lentil soup's texture very quickly grew on me and raised a thought: put this in a large to-go coffee tumbler, and I will be happy and moving all day.
The lamb rogan josh lunch special was as spicy as hoped. And the quality of the lamb was excellent. Cutting it with a fork and spoon—no knife necessary—was fabulously easy. Great job on this dish.
Fresh lime soda, an improved 7-Up of sorts, was a quick burst of sweetness, but the gulab jamun dessert — hot, soft, juicy, deep-fried, milk-solid balls soaking in a steamy rose-flavored sugar syrup, made in-house — was fantastic and an excellent reminder to visit again and again.
Service: Attentive and considerate, with welcome recommendations.
Atmosphere: Quiet and clean, with modern Indian Muzak playing in...
