When we came in the restaurant the first thing that we were hit with was the smell of weed. We actually thought it was a little funny. Like maybe a customer had just smoked before he came in or something. So it really wasn't a big deal. The restaurant was slightly busy so we completely understood when the only waitress there said it may take a bit longer than usual to recieve our drinks and food due to her working solo. I ordered a coffee and water and my husband ordered a soda. After 10 minutes she came back and asked us if we were ready to order and i reminded her that we needed our drinks. She sincerely apologized and returned with our drinks. We ordered an appetizer first, the pretzel bites. After 15 minutes she brought them to us. They were really burnt. We attempted to eat them but we couldn't get past the first one. So 15 minutes later she came back amd we told her/showed her about the appetizer and she was great and took them back and off the bill with many apologies. Another 15 minutes later she brought out our food. Everything was what we had ordered with no problem except.....it all tasted like weed! It was like the cook was smoking right over our food as he was cooking it! It was so ridiculous that we actually had to laugh. The restaurant at this point only had a few customers so when I asked her to bring me a container I figured she'd be right back with it. Nope, she completely forgot and after 10 minutes I finally walked up to the counter and asked her for one. She instantly started apologizing and while I appreciated that she was apologetic it didn't feel like a sincere apology. But I had also heard her apologize almost a dozen times at this point so I just smiled, paid the bill, left her a tip amd took home my weed infused food that I promptly threw away. The waitress seemed really stressed so I didn't want to get upset with her which is why I didn't get mad or really complain while I was there. But come on, the owners need to get it together. This was one of the worst experiences at a restaurant that I've had in a long time. I even read all the reviews before going there. Even with all the one star reviews I figured I wanted to try out a local business because there were also quite a few 4 and 5 star reviews.. i firmly believe a lot of the high reviews are false as all of the one 2 stars had...
Read moreMoved to the area a few months ago, and for whatever reason I hesitated coming here. I wish I hadn't. I had the best breakfast out I've had in over a year just now. I got a carry out of the Smothered Hash Browns and a side of bacon. The bacon was a bit crisper than my preferred, but I imagine that's just the default. I'm sure I can ask for a less crisp style. If that's not the case, I'll certainly update my review. But the Smothered Hash Browns were incredible. I'd often lamented to my fiancee how there isn't a Waffle House in Michigan. Well, now I don't have to any more. Whitmore Coney makes the exact thing I would order, except it's within walking distance, and I get to support a local business. Plus? It was fresh, delicious, and quick. I'll be back again. And again. And again, and...
Read moreI go over for lunch there every so often. It's a "Coneys" restaurant attached to a bowling alley. I've never been here in the evening/weekends so I don't know if the bowling alley is actually open.
Food was good. I had a 2 coney combo with fries. The price was fair at $7.99. The chili sauce was right. A true Detroit Coney dog has a meatier chili and no tomato flavor. This place had it right. My only complaint was the style of hot-dog. It didn't have the harder skin that a true Detroit Coney has but it did the job.
Fries were fresh and I had them with my usual trio: ketchup, ranch, and mayonnaise for...
