Tokyo Grill — Restaurant in Northfield

Wish we had a Tokyo Grill at home!

We were in Northfield for a tour of St. Olaf. It was a marathon 11.5 hour roadtrip before the end of the pandemic. Ordering online and picking up at the window was a breeze -- extra appreciated on a day where we didn't have time to mess around and dining in was not an option. It was incredibly seamless compared to most take out experiences and the quality of the food was a very welcome surprise on a day when we could really use the treat.

The online order form was user friendly.

We ordered Shrimp tempura appetizers -- which was excellent and generously portioned (four shrimp per order).

The house salads were great and again the portion of (really good) giner dressing was generous. The miso soup was the standard comfort food.

My husband got the steak bento and he thought it was very good -- better than the steak bentos at home. He added some California Rolls to round out his meal.

My son and I ordered a bunch of tuna rolls that were fresh and above average for what you find at comparable sushi restaurants. We also ordered some a la carte sushi and it was great. We also had the seaweed salad which we enjoyed.

Very satisfied. The price was pretty typical at around $112 for the three of us. Absolutely loved the convenience. So well done. We entered a time for pick up on our order (I think the order app said 20-30 minutes is typical). We ended up returning a little earlier than expected. Honestly I can’t tell you about the food because I never tried it lol. I accidentally ordered to this “Tokyo” restaurant instead of one also named “Tokyo” in Mankato. I didn’t realize this until I had driven all the way to that restaurant and by the time I called to cancel my order they said they could not refund me because “the food was already made with their supplies so it wouldn’t be fair to them”. I realize I was the one who made a mistake but ordering application is the same for both restaurants so I didn’t think anything of it while ordering (I’m also an unemployed full time college student so $22 is crucial at times) . I also suggested another type of “refund” like a voucher if they can’t give me all my money back but they didn’t really address that possibility. I put two stars because they were mainly respectful and nice about the mix up but it honestly was just disappointing and not good business practice, because at the end of the day I paid for something I never received and to me that’s...

This is easily my current favorite eatery in the Northfield area! I am relatively new to the sushi/sashimi scene, and I love it! After being introduced to Sushi by a friend, I wasn't so sure, but now I would eat it every day if I could. There are so many different choices on the menu, it is hard to decide. If I could order a piece or two of everything to try I would. Everything tastes so fresh and clean! I always order a bowl of miso soup and two or three rolls of sushi/sashimi for dinner.
