Update. This place still hasnt gotten any better. They clearly just dont care. 15 minutes for my drink...that was after i asked for it again. Not that I wanted it anyway after watching the manager wipe her nose on her sleeve then pour my beer. My waitress was hustling though, while 3 other servers stood there and watched her struggle. I'll never be back. Save your canned response you reply to negative reviews with.
It's been over 2 years since I've had a good experience here. I've lived around here for over 10 years and this location has always had issues, but you'd have a decent visit once in a while at least. Not anymore.
This time around there were 8 tables, 3 servers, a hostess and the bartender. Every table was sat next to each other with the rest of the restaurant empty. This is to help the waitress, apparently. It still took over 5 minutes and several times walking past for the server to acknowledge us and say she'll be just a minute. The table was sticky but we didn't want to delay any further so we dealt with it. A few minutes later we ordered drinks and the sampler appetizer.
My beer was flat. Not a bubble in it. Appetizer came out in decent time but then we waited another 4-5 minutes for silverware and plates. Boneless wings were half cold by then and the spinach dip was completely bland. We decided to not order entrees and went to BW3.
The previous visit was around 9pm, sat at a high top for 10 minutes with no server so we left.
The time before that my son ordered a chicken sandwich and was given a burger. The waitress never checked on us once so he just ate it. Daughters chicken was rock solid. We never had refills. Server kept claiming the credit card machine wasnt working right so that was making everything take longer. Not sure what that has to do with checking your tables but luckily I had just enough cash or we would have waited at least another 30 minutes. We were there nearly 2 hours as it was.
The time before that I went alone and sat at the bar on a Sunday during football season. Not a single game on the tvs. I was the only person there. I ordered a beer and the bartender literally forgot about it. 20 minutes later she realized it.
I'd like to say I won't be back. But because of the lack of decent restaurants around I'll probably try it again in a year or so. Maybe that's what's keeping this place going. Lack of...
Read moreWell, myself and the group I was with had an unfortunate situation with the Applebee’s at 3007 Curtice Rd., Northwood, Ohio 43619. We were seated promptly and our two waitresses, Cynthia and Dakota were delightful, taking our drink orders and bringing them right away. When we were about to place our dinner order Cynthia informed us that they had no french fries to serve and that we could either substitute another item or upgrade to waffle fries for an extra $2.99 (a ridiculous price for a substitution like this, I might add!!!). We said that was unfair to charge us an upcharge for the waffle fries given that it was their fault that they didn’t have any french fries to serve. We were’t interested in the other side options and asked to speak with the manager. Well, after a longer than neccessary wait, the manager, Skylar, finally makes his way over to us. We told him that it wasn’t fair to upcharge us for waffle fries given that they were out of regular fries. The attitude that he gave off was that of a manager that had no real managerial skills in resolving customer problems and it appeared that he couldn’t care less if we were satisfied or not. Now, I’ve worked in food management and It seems to me that a good manager would have resolved our issue one of two ways. One, comp the upcharge for the waffle fries or two, send someone over to the Meijer that is right across the parking lot and buy some fries to serve, paying for it out of petty cash! Skylar, is clearly not a very resourceful manager with virtually no people skills and is in desperate need of additional training! As a result we left Applebee’s and went to their competitor, Buffalo Wild Wings and had a great meal and far better service. It’s needless to say that I likely won’t be returning to Applebee’s as there are far to many other options for a good meal with great service than to have to settle for amateur hour with, quite frankly mediocre...
Read moreI don't know what happened to this place, it used to be pretty good. It is now abysmal. Took my family here for dinner, and was utterly disappointed with the food and service. It took us over 30 minutes to get our appetizers after ordering them, and forget about a refill on your drink. The appetizers were mozzarella sticks and chips and queso. I could understand if the restaurant was busy, but it was not. The table behind us came in after us and recieved their food before us. That's just the service, onto the food... The mozzarella sticks were fresh, hot and tasty! The chips were awful, some were very brown, almost burnt, and others weren't cooked enough making them chewy. The queso also had a skin on top like it had been sitting in the warming window for too long. Our mains came out after about 45 minutes. I can honestly say it was not worth the wait. All the plates were extremely warm. I mean plates, not the food. My daughters fries were room temperature, my wife got the chicken quesadilla salad, and her quesadillas on the salad were cold. My daughter and son also got the chicken fingers which were overcooked and brown ( not golden brown, brown). My chicken alfredo sauce also had a skin on it, and the plate was very warm. Again, indicating it was sitting in the window. I've never had the chicken Alfredo there, and the picture looked good, with big chunks of steamed broccoli. What I received looked like a frozen dinner with frozen broccoli sprinkled through. It's a shame, this place used to be good. But, until major changes happen with the service and the kitchen, it's a hard...
