I moved to Connecticut from New York City, on the hunt for a fantastic local bagel spot, and I hit the jackpot with Lizsue Bagels. They have two locations, Stamford and Norwalk. Both are excellent, but there's something about the Norwalk location that just does it for me. I'm willing to travel a bit farther for these amazing bagels almost every week. On my first visit, I arrived just 5-10 minutes after closing time, and they surprised me with a variety bag of bagels to try. That moment sealed the deal, and I've been a loyal customer ever since. The staff is usually friendly, although they can get quite busy, and the wait times can be a bit long, especially on weekends. I'd recommend calling ahead if you're in a hurry. What I love most is their extensive bagel selection. From onions to rainbow, egg to everything, and pumpernickel, they have it all. And the best part? They always toast them to perfection, just the way you like it. Personally, I often go for a ham, egg, and cheese on one of their fantastic bagels or indulge in chive cream cheese on another. It all depends on my mood that week. The possibilities for unique combinations are endless with the wide range of options they offer. If you're in the lower Fairfield County area, I can't recommend Lizsue Bagels enough. I'm confident you won't be disappointed. It's a bagel lover's paradise!

Unfortunately today I'm disappointed and have to call them out. I ordered a BEC on a well toasted everything bagel. This was neither well toasted and lacked the "everything " of the everything bagel. I've been a big fan of LizSue Bagels for decades and repeatedly defend both locations to people who choose to go to other bagel shops. To clarify my disappointment, this is how the discussion with the nice, yet unenthusiastic, young woman at the counter went. Me: I'd like a BEC on a well toasted everything bagel. Young woman at the counter: "they just came out of the oven and are hot" Me: that's great but I'd like it toasted to get it crunchy. Young woman at the counter: Well okay but it will probably burn because they are hot and just came out of the oven. " When she handed me the bag to check me out, I asked "so did it burn" and she replied "no, but it got very browned. " Hmmm. Sorry, I don't think so. Consistency is the foundation of business. It's just a bagel and it won't change my life...I know this.. but just don't get how this discussion went and certainly, don't understand the lack of "everything" on an everything bagel that just came out of the oven.

Insane rush (good for them!) Guy takes our order and asks for name. About 10-15 mins later I see ppl that came after us receiving their orders, so I ask for mine using my name and I get hit with the “what was the order”. After listing the order out, they seemed to work on it in the back right then. Must’ve forgotten the order. I had asked for fresh lox on my bagel, kid said they don’t have, and so I opted for lox spread. Later I see they had store bought farm raised packaged lox sitting in their fridge display. When I asked the kid about it he said “I thought you said fresh mozz”….. who puts mozzarella on an onion bagel with cream cheese? Regardless after hearing lox spread, it still didn’t register? They also forgot an item in the order. Get home, bagel hard as a rock and cold, with literally one piece of lox on it. I hate leaving “bad” reviews but seriously needs to be some accountability here. And for the price, they need to do better.

The staff here is wonderful. Very courteous and sincere and I truly appreciate that. That said, I was so disappointed this morning .I made sure to Google the shop before going to make sure I knew the prices ahead of time. I haven't been here in years and times are hard and I have to pinch every penny. I'm on my way to a pick up about an hour away and then I have to go to new jersey. I do courrieing work with my partner and we don't have too much money we have to make sure there's always a full tank because you never know where you'll get sent. I begged my partner if we can do Liz sue for a bagel with cream cheese. He knows how good they are here. But he was hesitating because he thought it'd be expensive. And I looked it up and saw the bagels were only 99 cents .They didn't have anything about the price for adding cream cheese .But at 99 cents how much extra could cream cheese be?? He agreed and I was so excited until I got ready to pay. I ordered one everything bagel toasted with plain cream cheese and one cinn and raisin bagel with strawberry cream cheese .I knew adding cream cheese would obviously add extra to the 99scents .But when she said $3.50 for the cinnamon with strawberry cream cheese bagel and 2.50 for the everything bagel with cream cheese I almost fell over. I was so confused and humiliated. They were very understanding and very sweet and tried to explain without insulting me and I truly appreciate their professionalism and they're heart. But this is insanity. This is beyond ridiculous .Why wouldn't the price for additional cream cheese be visible on the menu when it is such a high priced addition? Never in my life have I ever heard of a 2.50 charge for a a tablespoon of strawberry cream cheese added to a bagel .I don't understand and I wish I never bothered trying to enjoy what was once a staple of my childhood treats on holidays and special occasions. Just looking for old nostalgic comforts left me feeling foolish and like an outcast. I know I don't fit in with the luxury spots .So I don't bother. It Just breaks my heart to see the Liz sue has turned into something off limits for me .I cant imagine anyone who has to budget and has to be careful would be able to pay over two dollars extra to add cream cheese to a bagel .And I measured the cream cheese on the bagels .We have disposable utensils in the van and with a small plastic spoon I scraped up all the cream cheese off of my bagel to see if it was about a spoonful and it was less than. Less than a small plastic spoonful. For $2.50. That's disheartening. I wish this growing...
