Last night March 17th, 2017, St. Patty's Day, my husband and I went to The Tinkers Son for our annual Irish dinner of the traditional Boiled Dinner:cabbage, carrots, potatoes, parsnips, and corned beef!! And, of course, a couple of glasses of Guinness to celebrate the day!! However, we were so very disappointed last night, that we will probably go elsewhere next year!!
We never minded the wait, an hour and a half was no problem. We had a Guinness and listened to the great Irish band, and people watched!! But, last night it seemed like the restaurant was more crowded than we've ever seen!! Not safe!!! I wonder how this restaurant gets away with this!! Where's the town ordinances? Is the local fire department aware of this over- crowding event every year?
I'm afraid my first sip of the Guinness was not quite what I expected and am accustomed to from a Guinness!! I suspect it was watered down a bit!! I did not get that thicker, creamier Guinness that I enjoy, and the flavor was very weak. I don't know for sure if you can do that, but after my husband sipped his Guinness, he said he thought I might be right!
Then we finally get seated at a what seemed like a "card table" with 4 folding chairs squeezed in among tables with the wooden chairs.
Our waiter was very nice, we have no problem with him. However, when he placed our plates or bowls down in front of us, all I could say is "where is the beef?" We had two 4-5" strips of the corned beef! In previous years we always had a generous serving of plenty more !! Also, these vegetables were barely cooked!!! How disappointing this meal was last night. Cold hard veggies and short on the meat serving!!! Dessert was an apple crisp/pudding buried in a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. We had decided to skip the coffee and tea we usually have. It was the perfect ending to a disastrous dinner.
Sorry Tinkers Son, we'll miss going there!!

Read moreDon't know why it took us so long to check Tinker's Son out. It was a pretty miserable Saturday afternoon and it was the perfect place to be. Low key and cozy. Great service started off and finished the visit. Had to start with one of our favorites that we can be pretty particular about, curry fries and they did not disappoint. Fried fish and feckin chicken finished up our meal and both were fantastic. I nice ratio of batter to fish, meaning the the batter didn't overwhelm the fish. The chicken had a great flavor and would be hard not to order again. Oh, in case you were wondering, they pull a...
Read moreI've been a patron of this Irish pub a few times over the years. The food is absolutely superb, and the service has been excellent. Portions are substantial, and prices are fair. Their menu has a healthy range of classic Irish fare that I've never been disappointed ordering from. The ambience and decor of the interior is outstanding and probably my personal favorite thing about the place, which is saying something considering how tasty the food is. They have introduced an outdoor patio/dining area in the past years as well. Try them out, I think you will leave...
