The owners were rude and unprofessional in my first visit to this place. I know Covid 19 has everybody on edge but that is not an excuse to be rude and belittle your customers. They currently have a 2 person limit at the restaurant but from the outside you cannot see inside so I walked in...I was immediately yelled at and told to wait outside for my turn. As soon as 1 customer left I came inside again and the owner had the audacity to yell at me "boy I told you to wait outside and that is not your turn so go", at this point the person at the register tried to calm him down and the owner kept yelling that it wasn't my turn and that I had to leave. I explained to the lady at the register that I just wanted to pick up my take out and go and that the guy that was "supposed to be before me" told me he was still waiting for his order to be ready. The owner then proceeded to yell in his native language and talk to the lady in the register what I presume was a conversation about me. Then I'm pretty sure I was overcharged for my wrap that to be honest was hard to enjoy due to the bizarre experience I just endured. Never again...I truly hope your experience is much better and polite like the one you expect from a traditional Mediterranean restaurants than...
Read moreLazizah Bake Shop is a really nice little place. It is sort of out of the way but still easy enough to get to. They specialize in Mediterranean baked goods with a wide selection of breads, cupcakes and cookies. They also have many interesting products for sale like Bay leaf bar soap, grape molasses, many different spices, some different cookies and other ethnic products like pickled turnips. They serve a lunch meal and since they are small they only have 6 seats around three tables indoors. They also have a few little tables overlooking the river which flows just back of the bakery. All of the lunch meals that I have tried were in a bread wrap like a burrito and were delicious. Some have a much bolder spice to them than others but I would not say that any were over spiced. They were pretty good sized but not huge; I would say they are a pretty regular sized lunch. The lettuce, tomatoes and other vegetables were very fresh and crisp which was nice. They seem to put a lot of effort into have a very nice product. When I was there yesterday (Jan 2010), it cost $24 for the two of us. That was 2 of the wraps, two bottles of water and two cookies. I would say it is a very good price for a high quality, hand made meal and I certainly plan to continue giving them...
Read moreI often order lunch here for my break at work. I usually get one of their soups. The generous serving is enough to hold me until late afternoon. They have a wide variety of soup recipes, and usually have two available Monday through Friday, with occasional leftovers from the day before. My favorite is Zippy Chicken! They frequently have gluten free and vegetarian soup and salad options. When I'm in the mood for their awesome Turkey on Focaccia sandwich, I get mine with the bread wrapped separately so I can give that part away and just eat the middle. Even without the bread, it is still quite filling. I can only imagine how stuffed I would be if I ate the bread too! Don't get me wrong - they have awesome bread, it's just that I can't eat grain products due to food sensitivity issues. If you're looking for good Mediterranean food and desserts, Lazizah Bakery is a great place to start.
If I could, I would nominate them for a visit from Guy Fieri of "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives"! Can I do that? ... Hmmm ... I should go...
