Not really understand how this place has so many good reviews. In fact, the reviews were the reason why i ended up trying this place. I really wanted to like the food, I had the best intention. I ordered barbacoa, steak and pastor tacos & a torta. The tacos were okay, they were just okay; barbacoa was bland. Out of the three pastor was the okayest ( not a word huh). Price was not the best either. I was really hungry so no, my taste buds were not being picky. I put some red sauce on them, it was just okay. The green sauce tasted like metal, it was very weird so i sticked with the red sauce. The torta was not the best, the bread was very thick, it was more bread than meat. I was built very poorly, it had barely any steak, no avocado, just a bit of cheese and it was barely touched by the grill so the bread was hard. sigh I was very disappointed at the food. The only thing i can say was that the waitress was friendly and did bring out avocado when I asked if the torta was supposed to have avocado. I did however had to hear her explain the whole thing to the lady that seemed to be in charge, I don't think it was necessesary to ask the young lady why she was taking 3 thin slices of avocado to my table. I hope they do consider tasting the meats and take extra time when preparing a torta. Thats...

(This is Karolyn B. reviewing Taqueria San Marcos on Matt B's account). Matthew and I used to frequent Taqueria San Marcos when they had opened, back when it was fairly decent food. However, at this time.. it is a different story. I had dinner there (alone 😎) this evening after not visiting for a few months. My absence was due to a previously bad experience. I have found that each time I have gone, my faith in their food diminishes more and more. Tonight I had to have the one taco I ordered replaced not once, not twice- but three times. If the third time is the charm, then why was it so bad!? I ordered the Al Pastor on a corn tortilla, and the first time I received my taco I was given steak. When I got my "corrected" order, I was given pork on a flour tortilla without any pineapple. Finally, I was given my fully correct order, however the pork had almost no seasoning and was filled with those chewy, knuckly pieces. I also ordered the cheese dip which was room temperature and clumpy. It looked like white spit. I have learned my lesson. I always think it's going to be better or think, "it'll be fine this time". No, people. No.

Just say no to...

As a person of color I DO NOT recommend ordering from this place. I ordered what was suppose to be total of 6 taco steak things( call them things because that’s what they looked like) I should have kept driving when I was disgusted by the huge amount of black crows surrounding their open trash cans on the side their building. They served me my take out order with each thingy wrapped in aluminum foil separately thrown down in 2 white sacks smushed together with just 2 limes and very little dressings on top. The meat were pebbles of what looked like left over small pebbles of steak hard as heck and chewed like beef jerky . ( think that’s what crows were eating on outside) 22$ I paid for this mess. Gave me the impression they only cater to their kind ( Hispanic) NEVER order there again. My kids refused to eat that mess and all went to trash n so...

I tried Taqueria San Marcos on the recommendation of a couple of co-workers and I was blown away by how delicious their tacos are! They have a full menu but since I kept hearing about how great their tacos are, I have only had tacos the two times I've been prior to this review. I will definitely be back though. The tacos I've had so far are the Barbacoa (mild), Carnitas (mild), Fish (mild), Chorizo (spicy), and Adobado Chicken (spicy). They are all incredibly fresh, authentic, and flavorful. Theirs is the first fish taco that I have liked. In fact, it's actually one of my favorites! Their salsa is spicy and their chips are fresh. Overall, I'll just say that they serve the best restaurant tacos I've ever had! I can't wait to bring my friends and family here for a lunch or dinner soon.

Went in on a Saturday night. There was no other clients. The waitress was good but the issue is the food. We ordered a chicken burrito and alambres. The food took 45 mins to come out. The chicken burrito was very much bland in flavor and the alambres were drenched in an inedible amount of grease and had to wait for them to come for a while after the first plate came out. The tomatoes on top of the alambres were canned tomatoes not fresh. I dont think they should charge $14 for tacos so greasy with no fresh ingredients. The employees did not know what Alambres were. I could hear them talking in the background about how they didn’t know what was in it. Which tells me the cook had no training.

If you are craving a culinary south of the border moment then head to the unassuming Taqueria San Marcos. A hidden gem in the Gem of the Highlands, you will encounter friendly and helpful service and an expansive menu. However, don't be tempted by anything else but their tacos lovingly embraced by double soft shell tortillas. And do yourself a favor by getting the corn, not flour, tortilla. Makes no difference whether you get asada, carnitas, pork or other filling as your choice. They are all good. As the sun set the crowd of college students started pouring in and they seem to have a nose for good, affordable, food. An encouraging sign.
