Try the tortilla soup!!!! Amazing!! The best around. Wait staff needs some help. When they were in downtown walled lake the owners were always there and tried to make sure you always felt appreciated. However since they opened the new restaurant I have only saw the owners once. The wait staff seemed more interested in sitting in the corner with friends. They were playing with their phones and tablets. They were not busy and they were playing with children we felt as though we were bothering them more than anything. We waited 10 to 15 minutes before anyone took our order. Asked twice for water and three times for chips and salsa, which was always promptly given before without asking. We then waited another 10 to 15 minutes before our waiter came back to take our order (we had to motion for him to come do that). The food was on the cooler side and we again had to motion we were there and had not received our food. He never refilled our water or our salsa and chips. I would never complain about that normally if we had not been given and treated much better the other times we had been there and at their previous location. I truly love their food an! Always stopped in to pick up some tortilla soup for my daughter. I won't return because even their carry out service seems to be a bother to them. Again, there was no one there when we sat and ate in the restaurant and even when I would stop to pick up soup the girls would seem bothered by our presence. Please fix this, I did enjoy their food and service...

Lots of folks post food pictures from this place because it's really good. I'm posting a picture of a delicious drink I had called a Michelada. (Beer and a special Bloody Mary type of mix...yet different.) I love the seasoning on the rim also! Very creative. Very delicious. Kudos to the bartender. Also kudos to whoever created the colorful room ambiance. These two things make this restaurant rise above in my opinion from other Mexican restaurants we drove past to get to this one. Look around. Lovely wall art. Swirl on the ceiling. But I especially loved the lights with the circle in the middle that illuminated the center of the table and dispersed soft gentle lighting to the rest of the table yet wasn't harsh or glaring. What I hate in restaurants is what I call 'garage lighting'. Cozy partitions all around the restaurant also make it feel like you aren't eating right next to strangers...even if you are. I see they strived for the colorful, warm & cozy feeling and certainly achieved it. I want to impart that I appreciate all the extra efforts they went thru because eating out includes more than good food and some places miss that point. Go there. I know we will be back because I love the...

My wife and I have been eating at El Mariachi for a dozen years, when they were on Pontiac Trail location, to the current Novi Rd location. The have always served up delicious home styled Mexican food. I think we've tried almost everything on their menu, but my go to standard is the Carnitas Fajitas. Carnitas are a marinated slow cooked Roast Pork. Wow so tasty. My favorite sides are their home made guacamole and their slow smoked charro beans - I swear it should be a separate meal on its own. Price to Quantity comparison is excellent - we always have leftovers. I also love the Piña Jarritos. Often we will buy a large of their regular Chips and Salsa to just snack on at home - there's no chip like them anywhere. The manager/owner Martine, is like family, always friendly, always helpful. As long as El Mariachi is in business, my wife and I will eat there. We normally are there at least...

I usually don’t write reviews, but I was highly displeased with my experience here. Tried this spot in Novi hoping for something authentic, but it definitely didn’t meet expectations. It wasn’t your typical Mexican restaurant place, and surprisingly, there were no specials or deals for Taco Tuesday. Our server was dry—not rude, just not very welcoming—but she got the job done. We started with the queso, which was honestly terrible. Ended up sending it back. I ordered the quesadilla birria and would give it a 5/10. It lacked flavor and spice. The rice was decent, though I didn’t understand the addition of peas. The dipping sauce was also bland and lacked any depth of flavor. Overall, not a place I’d return to or recommend.

I ordered the lunch Cinco combo (rice, quesadilla, refried beans, dollop of sour cream), and the Numero Uno margarita. Total is about 15 bucks tax included. I thought the food was about average, the margarita was above average, but the service was excellent. Erin/Eric is doing a stand-up job, is very speedy, respectful and attentive. If you're in the area looking for some quick Mexican food and drinks I'd recommend a visit. Also: The salsa and chips comes as a table appetizer included and I found it to be great. It tasted fresh and was flavorful. Happy Cinco de Mayo! 🌮🇲🇽🤠
