Inexpensive for a lot of food: First, the ordering process: you have to call in your order by phone - even if you drive up and are standing one foot away from them with a door separating you. It doesn’t need to be this complicated to get food. Ordered an Ono plate and the special poke which was marlin. The poke was simple and delicious. The lunch plate, which I ordered katsu style, was honestly disappointing. I mean, they go out and fish for these amazing ingredients and then douse them in Mayo and a cloyingly sweet sauce. You could coat an old boot in that sauce and it would taste good. The point is to let these amazing ingredients shine, not be obscured by sauce. Maybe that’s an island thing because I’ve experienced the same at upscale restaurants. And one of the two filets was over cooked and dry. Blah. But - it’s cheap! Lunch for two with tip was $25 bucks so you can’t really complain. But this is not a foodie destination. I wouldn’t come back.

Ken's Fresh Fish is delicious! On our first visit here a local told us we had to get the fresh AHI KATSU STYLE fried so if course we did , gotta trust a local!! We also ordered the AHI GARLIC grilled it was fresh and good, but the Katsu style had us craving it and coming back for more! I don't do much fried food which is why I got the grilled when my husband got the fried. Needless to say... I am now ordering the grilled!! Yum yum yum you won't regret it. It comes with white rice and a salad. The portion size is generous. Enjoy! Remember - as the name says it's FRESH so the menu changes according to what they catch 🌊🐟🐠🦐 I totally forgot to mention that they make your food to order!!!! How sweet is that! Fast Food without the fast food staleness. Downside - They are not open daily. Plus they close early. You won't regret the trip out!

AMAZING! So simple because they use the freshest fish that does all the heavy lifting. You have to order the go find a picnin bench to eat at as there are no tables on premise. We drove about a mile and had the most amazing picnic lunch with an incredible view. You will need a towel or blanket but put this address in your GPS and plan on an amazing meal with a million dollar view. (Laʻie Point State Wayside, End of Naupaka Street, HI-83, Laie, HI 96762) We had the lightly grilled Ahi with Mango Salsa. For some reason I thought we had ordered a sandwich but it came out to be a grilled piece of Ahi at least 1 pound nestled on top of white rice topped with fresh made mango salsa. Please plan to share as it was a HUGE incredibly tasty piece of fish.

First of all maybe we got the wrong thing: Seems like a lot of customers prefer the Katsu ahi and coconut shrimp. Nevertheless the poke we had was not on par with the other poke places across the island (we arrived around 1:30 pm. Maybe it was too late?) We’ve been to other local places that serve fresh and unfrozen poke. I saw the owner replied that many of these popular local shops on the island serve not fresh but CO2 processed ahi. That’s very interesting and I’d like to see more proof or research on that as it sounds a little tenuous.

Back to the poke - The texture of the fish is a bit too mealy, and it didn’t have the pleasant chew as the other poke that we have had on the island. The fish was also a little mushy and under seasoned. Service was ok.

I don’t mean to maliciously target a local shop, instead supporting local shops has been the main purpose of my trip in Hawaii - to feel the diversity and generosity of the people, ocean and the land. Maybe we just got the poke on a bad day, but I hope I could at least leave a review that’s honest about the food and...
