We had the food delivered so this review is food based only. The two chicken dishes we ordered were lightly fried but tasted airy like it was not much chicken per bite. The flavor was also pretty bland to a point were you really couldn't taste the difference between the general tso and the orange chicken. The two veggie orders were also not very flavorful. The garlic asparagus didn't have any noticeable garlic and the stir fried mixed veggies was mainly huge chunks of broccoli that was mainly stems and took three or four bites to get through. Both dishes were wrapped in plastic as there was a ton of liquid in each carton like they got steamed and scooped quickly without straining washing away the little flavor each dish had. The saving grace giving this review two and not one star was the char siu fried rice. This was the first thing to go as everyone filled up on the rice because not much of the other food was eaten. I have still not found an amazing Chinese restaurant on the island but I will move on and try somewhere else. Not worth a second try until other places...
Read moreI live in Kapolei and the one Chinese restaurant that is literally 3 mins away from my home (Kapolei Chinese Restaurant) has been beyond disappointing (check their reviews). So I decided to try this place in Waipahu and I'm SO glad I did! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with nothing but sweet, smiling faces. There is a beautiful young woman who works behind the counter and we joked about doing nothing on our days off and what terminology I should use when I order wontons for the soup (crispy wontons) lol. She was so engaging and just genuinely sweet. On top of that, the atmosphere was so light and airy! There were two of the cutest elderly women sitting at a table making some sort of stuffed dumpling. For some reason, seeing that gave me the same sense of calm that I had when my grandma used to sit on her front porch and shell peas. The ladies noticed how fascinated I was with what they were doing and they both looked at me with the sweetest smiles. This is only Chinese restaurant I will come to from now on, and the hot and spicy soup with crispy wontons...
Read moreFirst and last...it's a struggle trying to find a great Chinese restaurant. This is definitely not one of them. Checked this one off the list. Service is decent. Atmosphere was par. Food, not so much. Portions were a little generous. Walnut shrimp was impressive huge shrimp and portion. They have no pork hash...( first Chinese restaurant with no pork hash). Disappointed. Charsiu egg foo young..par but tiny charsiu in it. Salted duck egg tasted old...unusual taste salty but off tasting. Omg..we ordered crispy cake noodle with beef broccoli. Looked like a bird nest..lol taste was ok. Crispy won ton..I don't know what is in the middle but it was not tasty nor pleasing to taste. Usually can't stop eating those...but I couldn't finish one. Choi sum garlic harmha. Tastless..Disappointed. All in all if the covid destroyed your taste buds and you need your belly filled with Chinese -like food this is your place. I'll stick to Kin Wah in Kaneohe...but will TRY...
