June 3, 2023 update We had family visiting from TN and treated them to dinner at Sadie's BBQ. The food, as always was amazingly good but what I wanted to comment on tonight was the extra special service provided by April and Tristan. Tristan was very attentive and accommodating and took our orders after everyone was done looking at their menus. April brought our side dishes and helped serve our food. My youngest granddaughter who is 14 wanted to try one of the soups but was unaware that it was quite spicy. She had difficulty eating it even after adding a lot of water to her bowl. I asked April to remove the bowl as my granddaughter could not eat it. April apologized and offered to have the cook redo the soup but make it mild. My granddaughter declined as her dad gave her a couple of his fried mandoo to eat.
April went to the kitchen and brought out a small bowl of seaweed soup saying it was all they had left. She said there was no charge and it was obvious she just wanted to make sure my granddaughter was fed. April's gesture was so kind and caring. I wanted to point out what wonderful employees work for Sadie's. We have never had a bad experience there. The service was always very good, but April went above and beyond tonight. Her kindness and compassion showed us what an amazing person she is. Mahalo, April for your heart. Mahalo, Tristan for your great service and patience. .................... Original reviews I have also updated the photos of the menus so the prices are current as of June 3, 2023.
We have visited Sadie's BBQ twice so far and have enjoyed the food and friendly service a lot the first time. This time the service was just as good but while my husband enjoyed all his food I wasn't completely impressed with all of mine. We ordered the combination plate A which is the kalbi, BBQ chicken, fish jun, 1 fried mandu, 2 scoops of sticky rice and a dipping sauce. Each order comes with 2 trays of tasty veggies pictured below.
My husband loved everything he ordered. I liked everything except the fish jun. It was cooked perfectly and the oil was fresh but the white fish they use has a strong fishy taste that doesn't appeal to my palate. No problem. My husband was glad to eat my fish jun. :-D The waitress said they use some kind of Korean fish but couldn't name it. Those of you who love fish of any kind will probably find the fish jun acceptable and enjoyable.
We were offered a second portion of veggies after we ate the first 2 trays and we brought half our food home to eat later. Several waitresses came around to check on us during our meal. The restaurant was packed, by the way.
We will likely eat at Sadie's again since Korean food is a huge favorite of ours. I'd say the BBQ chicken and kalbi are tastier than Tasty BBQ but the fish jun is far better at Tasty BBQ. Tasty BBQ can't touch Sadie's when it comes to the selection of vegetables offered to dine-in patrons and the service at Sadie's is always efficient, congenial,...
Read moreOrdered Sadie Special 27.00 meats burned like black, Korean style butterfish 28.00- outside no flavor inside fish 0- flavor, so happen red color sauce, way to sweet like corn syrup & Korean seafood pancake 18.00 massive batter on both sides, very oily & very little seafood inside which left half uneaten! Horicha tea should be served hot, came totally cold. Notified server, gave me puzzled look & she blamed on last workers didn't plug outlet. I also told her about bad seafood pancake & butterfish, she said she isn't the owner & will notify. Next table their mandoo came uncooked & they had to send back for crispness! There were only 2 tables with us Included, but 4 different takeout walk-in customer orders seem more important since my order came later than my husbands. Called owner & he said he was the son of the owner & they make food for local taste(sweet) not for Korean taste! Why then they pass off as Korean restaurant? Local people like good tasty food, not just sweet taste as per owner implied. No satisfaction from staff in the restaurant, Called to complain & he said I was ranting when actually was complaining- next step, POST terrible review! Infact the owner stated staffing shortage & new servers like we need to hear more excuses! See Joshua Wallin 6 month ago post, that's what Seafood or green onion pancake should look like, not mine! To bad I didn't take photo's...
Read moreA decent local Korean restaurant deserving of attention and do-over.
The front window hosts an Okazuya; and the interior accommodates small groups. The attention and host is attentive and on point! A constant flow of customers are hustled and seated relatively quick. The interior decor isn’t much to toot about; simple and plain.
The Yook Gae Jang-broth was favored well with the right amount of spice, decent amount of vermicelli, veggies and meat. You don’t see too many Korean restaurants now a day giving a decent amount of beef; points for Sadies.
Seafood pancake-battered just right and cooked crisp. The right amount of seafood and green onions. However, the shrimps were very small and dried out.
The King Kalbi-mixed reviews! Ordered two servings. One came well supplied with meaty beef and the other mostly gristle and fat. Had to toss about more than half out, thus not leaving much to consume. The beef was well flavored; sweet and salty, just the right mixture! If it wasn’t for the fatty chunks, I think I would have given it a...
