The Shack Mililani — Restaurant in Oʻahu

Okay my husband, his friend and I came here for the first time tonight (05/01/2021). The atmosphere of the shack in Mililani was amazing, I loved it. The food was pretty good and at a really good price as well. It came a lot quicker and we got seated a lot quicker than what they said it would take. The two guys working the hostess stand were super nice and were working extremely hard, this also goes for the two bussers/food runners that I saw, they were amazing too. We had Kiana as our server and she was good at first but went downhill very quickly. I waited for over an hour for her to even come back by, after we got our first drinks, I ended up sitting there for an hour and half with no drink what so ever. Now I am a server myself and I have been in the restaurant industry since I was 15, so I know how it goes working in a restaurant. I know people have bad days, I know people get overwhelmed with so many tables, I know that people are extremely overworked especially now more than ever with so many restaurants understaffed, but not checking on every table at least every 20 minutes should not happen, especially if you walk by those same tables. A table should not have to flag you down just for a drink or for anything for that matter. After reading multiple reviews it really seems like this place needs new servers. When you enter it looks super awesome. I had high hopes because my friends co works had come here many times and said they had awesome burgers and sweet tea. So high hopes. Started off with rude service our server didn't ask us if us if it was our first time, tell us the specials, she didn't ask how we where doing just asked what we would like to drink. Which I might add didn't tell us any of what they did have. Lucky for us we knew they had sweet tea and I asked if they had lemonade with a rude yes. She returned with our drinks and asked if we where ready to order we said no. She grabbed her note pad and waited for us to order we then asked for her to leave our table while we still decided. We ordered nachos, the combo chicken and beef teriyaki and potato skins for an appetizer . You would think the appetizer would come first, wrong it all came at once which defeats the purpose. It comes out looks amazing until you eat it.The nachos tastes like the chilli came from a can of Hormel chilli and a spray can of cheese. The chicken was bland then I asked for more teriyaki sauce to try and make it better and it back fired it was so awful I can't even explain what was wrong with it. The beef was cheap hamburgers steak So it also sucked. The potato skins where average nothing to complain about. The silver lining was the sweet tea and the Mac salad. But definitely not worth the bill and won't be coming back between the rude service...

if zero stars were possible that’s what I would be rating. I stoped in the shack last week with a friend. We sat at the bar and ordered a drink. I ordered a seared ahi wrap ( our freshest fish just off the boat) with no wrap. When it came out, the fish looked unrecognizable. It absolutely was not fresh by any standard. It had a funky smell, The lettuce was wilted and greasy yet had the dressing on the side. When I spoke to our bartender/server, I was told that you can’t get fresh fish anywhere on this island anymore.( which is a complete lie and also false advertisement if that’s what they are saying it is ) and that they would not be remaking it because it was made as a favor because the chef knew my friend I was with.. I didn’t realize I needed to call in a favor to minus the wrap. Our bartender was a middle-aged Caucasian female, who was extremely rude. I do not remember her name. My friend I was with is a chief and refused to try the food that was brought out saying it looked rotten I would not have fed this to my dog.

In reply to owners response. The kitchen was open when my order was made. Yes I do have a gluten allergy, and I came up with an easy option that didn’t involve any extra prep. I never demanded anything. I ask if it was an option to not have a wrap and just do what was inside of it. We also never ordered food from anywhere else because we tapped that and left...
