The reviews of 4.7 are for the previous bakery which was one of the best allergy bakeries in St Louis not for Anna’s dream cakes.
We have bought birthday cakes 2-3 times a year from here (Susie Gs) due to the allergy policy of Susie Gs. They always had peanut free bakery stickers and took allergies very seriously. We always bought cupcakes and cookies from the cabinets and loved coming here because there are so few bakeries that understood allergies.
My daughter went to order my granddaughters cake this year and noticed the name change. She asked if the nut policy was the same and the phone order taker said it was. She ordered the cake which was not cheap and was asked to pay on the phone.
When my daughter went to pick up the cake for my granddaughters birthday she was shocked. Sliced almonds and pecans in all the cookie cases. One tray had crumbs of pecans every where on the top shelf that could easily cross contaminate every thing in that case.
My daughter was shocked and again confirmed with the person giving her the prepaid cake. She said yes we have the same policy as Susie Gs was which is an absolute and dangerous lie!
Anna’s Dream Cakes obviously cares more about the bottom line than the seriousness of food allergies. They shouldn’t say they are the same as Susie Gs because they are not. They should state whatever they do which I am guessing from what she shared is there are nuts in the kitchen and they wash things if you order a cake and ask. I didn’t see any designation on the cake we received saying anything was done and nothing was on the receipt.
Needless to say we threw out the 80 dollar cake to be safe. The absolute disregard for the seriousness of nut allergies is the worst part- just say you have nuts everywhere. All those with out allergies may love your business- just don’t fake it for the extra money. So you put my daughter in the pickle of use the cake she bought from you that her daughter knew was coming and potential risk her daughters life on her birthday or disappoint her daughter with another time that something was ruined because people don’t get it.

Read moreI've ordered all my important cakes from the previous owner for MANY YEARS. This was my 1st time ordering under the new ownership, but I heard they bought the recipes so I was hoping it was still world class taste, look, and execution. After placing my order, a good friend of mine said oh no... I hope your cake doesn't collapse! This was her experience recently with Anna's Dream Cakes. Well, last night at a fancy restaurant in Town and Country celebrating my birthday and my sisters, the restaurant served us unrecognizable cake slices that looked like someone took an ice cream scooper and tore it up & slapped it on a plate. They said the top layer of my cake ( an 8" white cake with lemon filling) slid completely off the top when they went to slice it with a knife and the cake collapsed! I was SO mad & embarrassed. These cakes are NOT cheap. I left it in the fridge and followed their instructions to the letter and what happened to my friend, happened to me. They need to have a structure inside the cake to keep the integrity of the shape when using their fillings. In the 100 cakes I have purchased from the previous owner, I have never had this happen and in those days I was having them design far from standard shape cakes. My friend said when she called to tell them about her experience, they blamed her. I am not going to call them, at this point I am confident this happens to all of their cakes & they have failed to prevent if from happening continually. I won't be back, this now ends a 20 plus year relationship I had enjoying what use to be the best cakes money could...
Read moreSusie G's is a wonderful bakery that really cares for their customers. My daughter wanted a Little Einsteins cake for her 2nd birthday and I was having a hard time finding someone that would be able to do this theme. On the Wednesday before her party, I was referred to Susie G's and they acted quickly taking my order and making sure that it was going to be what I wanted/needed. Then the day before the party, my daughter was diagnosed with strep and we had to cancel the party as she would still be contagious. When I called to see if we still had time to make a much smaller cake than what we ordered, they informed me that the cake was already baked so they could not do that. But they did take a small amount off, saying that they understood the situation (all of this was done without any insistence or pushing from my end, they are just very caring people). When we picked up the cake we were blown away with the artist design that did on it. The look on my daughter's face was amazing (it truly brightened up her day)! And the cake tasted even better than it looked. I would highly recommend Susie...
