What a delicious BBQ place! We walked in and the decor was completely unexpected. It just seemed.. classy yet still casual. It looked very down-to-earth. The waitress, Yasmine, was just incredibly friendly and upbeat. She sat us down, took our drink orders, then was instantly available to take our food orders. Of course, we were the only two people there at 2:30 in the afternoon, which seemed so off considering the food was mouthwatering.
We ordered the brisket sandwich, the half rack of ribs, mac and cheese and baked beans. My boyfriend noticed the bun was huge compared to the portion of brisket, but reluctantly agreed after finishing his meal that it was better this way because it kept the sandwich together and kept the bun from being soggy. My ribs were fantastic. You couldn't even eat them like regular ribs because the meat would just fall off when you picked up a bone, so I was forced to use a fork, which I was more than happy to comply with.
The spicy BBQ sauce was spicy and just what we expected/wanted. The regular BBQ sauce was tangy and delicious. We aren't fans of mustard, so we skipped the mustard sauce.
The Mac n Cheese and baked beans were both delectable. I didn't want to stop eating them, but I couldn't fit in any more food. You know that feeling you get when you eat so much on Thanksgiving that you have to breathe carefully? That's how I felt after finishing as much of my plate as possible. Even had to do the little Thanksgiving unbutton-the-pants trick. I think next time I'll wear stretchy pants. The only slight downside was that they don't have french fries, which could be considered a good thing because if I had that option I wouldnt have gotten the baked beans.
There is definitely a reason why this place has a 4.9 star review. Todays visit surpasses any BBQ restaurant in St. Louis in my book. Hope whoever is reading this enjoys it as...
Read moreI travel a lot and I look for hidden gems and this is definitely a diamond in the rough. I stopped in and immediately my stomach started growling because of the smoked brisket smell of Heaven. I am a wing connoisseur so I ordered a batch of wings and tried dipping them in their homemade barbecue sauce and immediately I was taken aback by the rich and delicious flavor of smoked chicken wings. I spoke to Derek and Tracie and they told me that they only stay open until they're sold out and after the first three months they were open they've never had to stay open till they're closing time so get there early don't miss out on this deliciousness. They also have homemade desserts and I was lucky enough to get a taste of Tracies 5th generation banana pudding. This place is closed on Sunday and Monday but that's okay because I come in on Tuesday Thursday and Saturday and I am satisfied with that. If you're passing by on the highway I highly recommend stopping here it's about an eighth of a mile off of Highway 40 they even have a convenient drive-thru so call ahead and they'll have it ready for you. Their menu is one of a kind never seen anything like it it's an original and it was obvious to me asked why this place is selling out their food almost as soon as they can make it. After writing this post I'm starting to Crave the food and I'm heading up there to get there BBQ brisket...
Read moreWe stopped into His and Hers BBQ as it has been many years since we ate here last. The last time the location was by the Town Square Cinema and was owned by the original proprietor. The establishment has been sold a few times since.
We ordered a pork steak dinner, 6 smoked chicken wings w/side, and a pulled pork dinner. The pork steak dinner really changed since I had it last from the original proprietor. It was much smaller and was not sauced. They use a rub on it before BBQing. It wasn’t bad, but not at all like I remembered which was twice the thickness, really juicy and tender. The small size for the $18 price tag was not a value to me at all. The chicken wings however were actually pretty good. They are large whole wings, smoked with a crispy skin. We both enjoyed them. The pulled pork sandwich was just so-so. The sides we ordered were the onion rings, which were crispy and delicious, but they offer just 4 of them as a side, the Mac and cheese which was okay, the baked beans which also was just okay, and the spicy green beans which were way too spicy for my tolerances and couldn’t even eat them. I should have chosen the potato salad.
As this place may be good to other people’s pallets, I could not recommend it and...
