I always pass the plaza with The Goodwill, Monical's Pizza and the occasional Fish n Chips food truck that parks on the lot and noticed Soulard Gyro a couple doors down from the pizza place. Its a nice addition to the community there is only 1 other mom and pop restaurant other than the sesonal Arby's menu that have authentic Gyros and that is Sam's Southern Eatery on South Hwy K & Technology Dr. I was a virgin to this new establishment but was overall impressed with SG's menu selection however it may be a good thing that they sell out of certain selections like the chicken, bacon ranch gyro & roasted red pepper sauce for their red pepper hummus with fresh pita bread for my wife. There are certain meats, vegetables & cheeses my wife says she doesn't like but Ive debunked that theory many times over without her knowledge incorporating it into many home cooked meals. My mother in law gets so excited and LOL you got my daughter to eat WHAT? So I subsituted the chicken with their mixed rotisserie lamb & beef and she thought it was sexilicous. I tried the lamb & beef philly cheesesteak gyro and DaaaYYuuum Son it was on point! I also ordered 2 individual bags of fries, 2 canned sodas and 2 slices of NY plain cheesecake with homemade strawberry sauce. I was tempted to get the baklava for my wife like I get her at Sam's Southern Eatery it reminds her of her heritage and both her mother & grandmother making it for her growing up. I stopped at SG randomly on a whim hungry as a hostage as I was walking out with my order I asked 2 random guys sitting at a table their opinion of the place they both simultaneously answered we've met here once a week for lunch since they've opened. I asked another passing patron on my way out the door and he happened to be a Door Dasher delivery guy and he replied I've never ate here before but it smells awesome and I always have tons orders that I pick up for customers. Wow thanks for the feedback now I'm headed home to jump on this like a fat cop on a free...
Read moreI've been here several times before and gotten to go orders. Never before did I have to request sauce on the side or pay for sauce for falafel. Today was different. When placing my order over the phone I requested spicy tzatziki sauce for both my gyro and falafel. Upon my arrival, after paying, I requested said sauce and was told the sauce was already on the gyro and that in the future I needed to request it on the side because "they don't know when I'm going to eat it". I got 6 individual falafel patties @ .75 each. On my prior visits the sauce was on the side with no charge to my knowledge because I wasn't asked how many I wanted. In fact, my first order I was given a sample of each, spicy and traditional. A sauce is .50. I didn't have the change and they wouldn't charge less than $1 on my card, so I was going to break a $50 bill for .50 and the cashier was going to give me change in $1 bills. I declined the sauce because of that... I don't want anything for free... it should have already been added to my bill when I paid in the beginning. I will say that my gyro was remade after I told the owner... that's what he said he was... that it was my lunch for work, I work 3rd shift @ 1030p. But now I have falafel without sauce😕. I will make better choices with my time and money in the future. They close @ 8p... 2 and 1/2 hours before I have to be @ work and I broke my sleep to get a good lunch....
Read moreWell, I do not have much good to say about this place. I came here for lunch and ordered the Gyro. I also got the bowl of olives to go with it. People were clearly working here, but we had to use the kiosk to order and when I chose the olives, it showed a nice size bowl of whole black and green olives. What I was served was a small sauce cup of chopped black olives. Nothing like what was in the picture and just a sad little plastic lid of olives. I don’t know what this place is thinking, but that is just horrible. But I complained about it. I was given pushback and they said sorry. Certainly not good enough. The Gyro was borderline OK. The meat was very dry, and there was not much on it at all. The highlight of the meal was the pita bread. I guess all the way out here in O’Fallon this is as good as it gets for Greek food? I am not from this area, but in St. Louis, this place would not exist because no one would go there because there are many many great Greek restaurants that serve truly amazing food and whole delicious olives. not a fan...
