My husband and I came to spend some time outside of the house to read. Addi's won the choice of cafè for this morning. He ordered a egg sandwich and said it was delicious, no bad review there. I ordered an affagato but it did come out just after his sandwich (he ordered 5 minutes before I did) so it was about a 15-20 minute wait. The plus side was they did bring the food and beverage directly to the table. Affagato - the coffee tasted more on the acidic side but the ice cream balanced that. The space is compact. We probably felt that more because we came at a busy time (before 10am on a tuesday. The space opened up more around 11). The tables are very small but each has a cute little accent succulent, making the atmosphere more welcoming. There is a larger table and a couch as well as some games toward the back of the Café-these add to the warmth and welcoming atmosphere but we were at a smaller table until the couch opened up. The space has a lot of natural sunlight and there is a green accent wall as well as green plants - these help to brighten the space. While we were there, piano music was playing in the background- perfect for reading and studying! Not too distracting. Several people were able to be working on thier computers and no complaints regarding the wifi. The bathroom was fairly clean but the toilet didn't flush all the way despite flushing twice. The lotion in the bathroom needed to be replaced but the fact that they cared about providing lotion for customers to use after washing hands, that thought was a good touch, especially because winter is...
Read moreThis place is absolutely amazing. The coffee is spot on and the waffles are some of the best I've had. I've recently read that the owners plan on shifting the cafe to a restaurant. I love the idea, however Oak Park is seriously struggling to keep a well done, gourmet coffee shop. And though I love Ethiopian food, I think the better business prospect is a coffee house. We all know that operating a restaurant carries slimmer profit margins, more operations, staff, and risk of food inventory spoiling. Coffee businesses are easier to streamline and market to a broader customer base. The coffee business they run today is awesome, and improving daily. I would hate to see something going so well drift to something else. In the mean time, I hope they read my review and consider the restaurant/coffee market and business economics of their options. Having lived here my entire life (27 years) the trend is that food restaurants come and go quickly and there is never a great...
Read moreGood atmosphere, definitely makes you feel like you want to be productive. Everyone here actually was either heads down into something or having a conversation.
My fav parts of this cafe were the various seating locations and the tumeric latte. Having a variety of options to get comfortable is always a plus to me. Although this place also felt a bit small, but still there were options. The tumeric latte and some of the chai's they had on offer were great to see because these aren't offered at many cafes.
Another thing I liked, the sunlight. All windows from floor to ceiling on two of the walls. The sunlight just helps, so that design choice is two thumbs up. Especially when you're a remote worker and need to get out of the house but want to enjoy your location.
I didn't get to stay here as long as I would have preferred since they closed at 2pm. That was an oversight on my end when searching. But aside from that,...
