You better know everything there is to know about the train system here, if you ask an employee a question be prepared to be berated and met with attitude, upon approaching the employee and asking how long you had to wait in between taps before the repeated use restriction went away I was met with “WHAT DO YOU WANT I JUST GOT HERE DAMN”. Upon asking how long I had to wait to be able to scan my card again as I had used it and realized I forgot something and went to get it I was then met again with “WELL WHAT DID YOU LEAVE FOR” yelling for no apparent reason even though it was just me and him in there. He then comes from the gate and continues bickering to himself checks out what it says when I tapped the card and looks at me and goes “Next time you’re gonna be waiting for 18 minutes”. When we moved into the neighborhood in 1990, there was a rumor that the entrance on East Ave. would be reopened, and eventually it happened, though it is entirely automated. It was pretty common in those days that snow on the path from the station platform to East Ave. wouldn't be shoveled, ever; now, it often takes a little longer than the ramp up to Oak Park Ave., but it usually gets shoveled eventually. It's been a while since I've dealt with the agent on the OP side (are they still there?), but they've always been helpful in the past. The tile steps on the East Ave. end of the platform are safe to walk on these days, and the platform is generally in good repair. The arrival time monitors are another improvement.
