I wasn't in the mood for Mexican food, but my friend was raving about this place after rediscovering it. We had each moved away from Chicago and burbs, and returned, years later. The memories flooded back when I walked through the door.
Beautiful artwork throughout and tasteful ambiance. Friendly, professional staff, who work seamlessly, as a team. Nearly everyone I observed, was treated like a regular, returning guest as well. A very good sign at a restaurant. My friend Theo had reestablished that relationship as if he had only been on a vacation.
I had a perfect margarita. That's usually a prerequisite for me to praise a Mexican restaurant experience. I could taste every ingredient. When I commented, our server brought me a tiny sample of the tamarind version, which I'll order next time instead of the classic. A subtle enhancement and variety.
I was offered a mole sample as well. Some places won't do that. But I insist before choosing that particular dish, or else I just pass on it. They're all very different depending on the chef....overpowering chocolate or not even a hint of it. Some are like a melted Reese's. To each his own; right? This was the second perfect experience of our dinner. I'll try something else next time, but order a pollo mole to go. I had my fill but still took home half of my dish for two more delicious lunches. If not for that, I would have ordered a take out quart of the soup as well, and now wish that I had.
Margaritas will be my new..go to..place whenever I'm traveling anywhere near the area, or visiting my friend. Definitely something to look forward to...

We were happy to venture inside and greeted with a friendly hola and temperature check... All's well, so we sit. We're the only table dining in, but can see a steady stream of to go orders being picked up. We went for two dishes on the diverse lunch menu. Burrito with Steak and Chicken Mole plate. They did not disappoint on the size and presentation. The Mole sauce was good but the chicken was overcooked. It was as if the chicken breast were cooked and the sauce added on top and not actually simmered in it as lacked taste. The beef burrito on the other hand was delicious with each bite. Beer list, albeit without prices, has Good selections... Corona, Dos Equis, Modelo, Pacifico, Sol and a few others, so I ordered a Victoria and was sticker shocked to see it was $5.75 a bottle. Ask before ordering as I'm sure they have beer specials I excitedly overlooked. Overall service was good, would have been great if they would have asked if we needed anything after delivering our meals. Pretty much left alone and forgotten until we flagged down the staff to ask for to go containers and again for the check. So...
Read moreOverall I had a good time. We went on a Sunday afternoon right before 3pm so we were able to pick from the lunch menu and you didn't have to pay for the street metered parking due to it being Sunday. I love that they had mask required (unseated) and social distanced the tables. So very happy to see that. Now to the food. I have skirt steak with beans, Mexican potatoes, cactus salad and small quesadilla...all were yummy and decent size. My husband had similar but with rice and small enchilada. I rushed too fast to eat and forgot entree pictures because it looked so mouth watering. Also ordered a Pina Colada that was yummy. The only negative was the menu had it listed with one price only @ $13.95 and when we got our bill it was $18.95. When I asked why the difference, we were told they gave us the medium instead of the small. They should not have done that without asking or simply list all sizes on the menu so the customer can select the size when ordering. I was bothered by the principal behind that and it changed our experience from great to good. Think I still may...
