Read moreSahtein!! (Arabic for Bon appétit; enjoy your meal) Excellent Lebanese cuisine, with an amazing juice bar, where it's fun to watch the process. Get the potassium broth for a quick pick-me-up. Everything here is good, and a bit cheaper than Pita Cafe, on Greenfield just to the north. La Marra tries harder & it shows. No beer or wine, like the more lively & popular Pita Cafe, but that makes the vibe here a little more chill. Tabbouleh is served without cracked wheat (bulgur), making it gluten-free. Dressing & lemon wedge are on the side, so the salad doesn't get soggy. I'd like a little more fresh mint in the tabbouleh, but there is some in the dressing. The fattoush salad is fantastic and you can get it with grilled chicken (tawook), or shawarma (grilled chicken or lamb). Entrees come with 2 sides, fries or rice (Lebanese style with vermicelli) and soup or salad. Add $2 to upgrade salad to tabbouleh or fattoush. The most satisfying entrees are the char-broiled meats. Shrimp dishes are also excellent. Caveat: the arayes appetizer (meat stuffed pita) is not made with pine nuts, but with slivered almonds. For years, the menu says pine nuts are in the stuffing, and La Marra really needs to change this.
Obtained my food around 4:30pm. Upon eating my food that tasted warmed up, I broke my pita bread in half and found it to be extremely hard and stale. I called the restaurant and spoke with Mike to inform him that he gave me very stale old pita bread. I asked him if he knew that the bread was old and stale and he admittedly said yes. He went on to explain that he knowingly gives old stale bread without charge to the customers and it’s on them to say whether they want the bread or not. I was livid. Because i was never even asked/given an option to say I did NOT want old stale bread. I shld have followed my first mind to check my food before leaving, but I was starving & in a hurry to my next stop in a busy day. In informing him of the above and that I was a Public Health official who wld report him knowingly serving old food, his response was hanging up on me. Do NOT eat from this restaurant!!! I NEVER had this problem with Pita Cafe, further down on Greenfield, but better believe, I WILL be passing them by for Mediterranean food from Pita Cafe!!! I recorded the hard stale pita bread sounding like crackers upon breaking...
Read moreI placed an order on DoorDash. The website said the restaurant was open. My credit card was accepted. I called the Dasher when the food had not arrived at the time specified. He said when he arrived at the restaurant, they had called me to say they closed. THEY HAD NOT!!!! I am at my sister's home, quarantined, because my sister is in the hospital with COVID. I am taking care of my mother, who is immobile due to a stroke, and caring for my sisters two teenage daughters AND trying to work. Now, everything is closed, $88+ is on my credit card, I am trying to get that straightened out with DoorDash and I still have to feed 2 teenagers and a 70 year old woman and EVERYTHING is closed except fast food but I can't leave the house because I am quarantined due to COVID19. Now DoorDash is saying La Marra failed to update its hours on the website. I will never, ever, ever, do business with this dishonest, unscrupulous, unprofessional...
