We somehow have eaten at Cindy's 3 or 4 times despite living a long ways away. It seems it's the perfect distance for a meal stop on a road trip, no matter what time we leave, and it's got enough different types of food that it satisfies the pickier eaters in our party.
This time we had actually planned to eat at another place that was listed as being open but was very obviously closed when we got there so I will add reliable to Cindy's description.
We were a party of five on a hot day. I was the only person that wasn't too cold in the air conditioning. I loved it. It's typical for warmer places. I noticed there was outdoor seating as well. If you have cardigan-wearing types in your group, have them bring their sweaters when the AC is on.
The food was fast and efficient, and correct. The wait staff was very helpful. When my kids didn't want fries with their meals, they offered fruit, and when they said no to that, they offered potato salad or cole slaw.
The refills for iced tea and lemonade were frequent.
I would give this 5 stars for the fast friendly service and variety, clean bathrooms, and spacious seating,, but the food itself was a little blah (probably my least interesting chicken fried steak dish out of my past three road trips). It's hard to rate a restaurant and not...
Read moreThis was my first time here, and it will probably be my last. I didn't want anything big. It was over 100 degrees, so I wanted something lite. I ordered the half sandwich, small side, and a salad. I specifically ask the waitress if the Blue Cheese dressing was thicker and chunkier. Sure, she said. When I got the salad, the dressing wasn't even close to thick and chunky. It was more like colored water. I tried twice to get an extra cup, but after two attempts, I finally had to flag down another waitress. I also asked for a few extra napkins. 5 minutes later, the blue cheese finally showed up but no napkins. Now, let's get on to the Tuna Salad sandwich. That was the worst sandwich I have ever had at a restaurant. The tuna was absolutely swimming. Now I don't like my tuna dry, but I don't like it swimming right of the bread either. The other thing that was very disappointing to me is that the lettuce on one piece was all wilted and the other piece was not only wilted but had black spots over half the leaf. Poor service, very poor quality food and at $15,...
Read moreWe stopped in at Cindy's for the first time yesterday, and everyone was so friendly, even the cook gave us a wave 👋 hello, as if he'd known us forever. We sat at the counter because it was very busy. Our waitress was extremely helpful in giving me choices for a chorizo/egg breakfast. I had the scramble though the chorizo/papas omelette sounded great, just too much cheese and double potatoes I didn't need. She also added fresh, sliced, jalapenos! Delicious! 😋 Just the way I make it at home. My husband was easy, a small menudo, which he said had great flavor. We will remember Cindy's, next time we are in or near Oakdale as our first choice for a meal! Thanks to our waitress, and staff. They all do a great job in hospitality for the city of...
